Straws, Sharing, and Simple Solutions…
Last night, my daughter and I went to the theatre to watch Inside Out 2. There wasn’t going to be an interval, so we decided to buy pop corn, nachos and coke before the movie began.
I don't often drink aerated beverages, but a sip or two help wash down dry pop corn. So, I ordered one coke and T Junior grudgingly agreed to share. We both knew she won’t be able to finish a tall glass of coke, but she still resisted because she absolutely detests sharing straws. To accommodate, I grabbed two straws.
As soon as we sat down, she immediately claimed one by biting it slightly to flatten the top, announcing, "This one's mine. Your’s is rounded. Don’t use mine."
As the ad promotions played, she leaned in closer and whispered, "If I’m ever in the food business, I’ll have straws in different colors. Customers could choose the color they like, and no one would have to damage their straw to keep it separate. Color markers or even bendable tops would be all the markers one would need."
Her simple, yet insightful solution made me pause. How often do we overlook easy fixes for common problems? Sometimes, the best ideas come from paying attention to the little annoyances in our daily lives and thinking creatively about how to resolve them.
This moment reminded me of the importance of listening to new perspectives, especially those of the younger generation. Their fresh, unencumbered views can inspire innovation and thoughtful change. 😊
Let’s not underestimate the power of simple solutions. They often hold the key to making our experiences more enjoyable and hassle-free.
