I see lots of really amazing employer brands that are kind of just... idling in neutral. Similar to any other brand campaign, you need to continually refresh and reinvigorate employer brand content and media in order to make it stand out. When you first launch a new employer brand, you will notice a natural groundswell of traction - clicks, views, visits to your career site will all spike. But, within 3-6 months, you will notice that your employer brand content and media will start to fall in engagement. This is natural. It doesn't mean that it's 'failing' or that it's not good. It just means that the you've saturated the market and people want to see something original and new. Here are some ideas to do just that: ☆ Try a new method of communication or spotlighting a different aspect of culture. ☆ Introduce a new platform or mode of messaging. ☆ Make a funny video. ☆ Publish a leader blog about a unique aspect of your EVP. #humancentricemployerbrand #employerbranding

Your employer brand should reflect the genuine values and culture of the company to resonate with talent. 📖 Storytelling Swift weaves compelling narratives into her music, which engages her fans. A strong employer brand strategy should use storytelling to illustrate the company's journey, mission, and the experiences of its employees. 🔮 Adaptability Taylor Swift has reinvented her image and music style multiple times, staying relevant to different audiences. Employers need to adapt to changing times and remain flexible in their approach to attract diverse talent. 🤝 Engagement Taylor engages with her fans through social media and interactive experiences. An employer brand strategy should focus on engaging with potential candidates through social platforms and creating interactive content. 🧱 Community Building Swift has fostered a strong community among her fans. Employers should aim to build a community around their brand, creating networks that attract and retain top talent. 'It says nothing to me about my life.' An excuse to wheel out one of my favourite lyrics from The Smiths? Maybe. 😆 BUT - relevance was a key theme at last night's excellent Universum Employer Branding Club. Over three wide-ranging panel discussions, covering everything from reviving DEI to building an employer brand as an unknown entity, here are my key takeaways: 💡 Brand ambassadors need to be given the tools to be successful - so be intentional about who you choose, and how you engage and equip them. 💡 Your company is not the story. This means making your candidate the hero and being laser relevant in your messaging to them. 💡 Skills-based hiring is here already. Companies and candidates need to better understand how to go to market, and stand out, in this new world of labour exchange. 💡 DEI is not dead. Far from it. Gen Z (shortly to be 25% of the workforce) are pushing for companies to do better, and they will call you out. Performative posturing is intolerable (see - many IWD posts today). Real action, with clearly communicated proof points, is a non-negotiable. 💡 You can't tell people you're authentic - it has to come through organically from your employees. Take the time to find the people that capture and embody the spirit of your culture and brand, and put them centre stage. As always, plenty of rich food for thought to take back to my clients.
