SkyWater Search Partners is honored to be recognized by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ) as a 2024 Best Place to Work. This is the 9th time we have received this distinction. As always, we are delighted to see our continuous investments in talent and our commitment to our values validated so powerfully and publicly. Great workplaces don’t just happen. They don’t spring up because someone on the leadership team says it’s important. They’re created and sustained thanks to the mindset and efforts of the whole team. And I couldn’t be more proud of this team. Every day, I see how each of you chooses to crush your own goals. But more importantly, I notice how you embrace the company’s goals as your own and support each other in pursuing them.
Together, you have built an extraordinarily positive and supportive team culture and a strong workplace environment that we all treasure. On behalf of the leadership team, thank you!

I wanted to share and express my immense gratitude for having had the chance to work alongside Joanne Matthews for the past four years. Seriously, she's been a game-changer.
Working with Jo has been like a crash course in leadership done right. She's not just about talking the talk; she walks it too. Her authenticity sets the vibe for our entire HR team and the organisation – it's infectious. Jo's not your average CPO or leader. While these photos are memories of some fun and great times over the past four years, there's also been a lot of hard and impactful work. She's done some truly incredible stuff in her time at Michael Hill - she made her way through managing COVID, implemented new systems, dealt with all the challenges of HR and people transformation, has shaken up the norm, you name it. But what really stands out is how she listens, really listens, and then acts on it. She genuinely cares, is all about opening doors, doing things differently, influencing wisely, and pushing us to think beyond what's comfortable. And her feedback? It's been like rocket fuel for my growth, giving me the confidence to think big and run wild (well, until someone tells me to stop!). I have grown so much as a HR professional, as a leader and as a person with Jo as my leader.
So, here's to Jo and her next adventure! I couldn't be more proud of her, and I know her new team at Collins is in for one heck of a ride. #HRRocks#Grateful#ChiefPeopleOfficer#ChiefPartyOfficer#CheersToLeadership

Executive search is an investment... so make sure you see the return!
Research shows that 86% of new hires decide on whether to stay in their role in the first 6 months. We have no doubt that figure is even higher when you are bringing in a senior Executive specifically to drive innovation and change.
At TheFind we have leaned hard in to onboarding and retention but have been thinking about ways we can go even further to support our Clients and Candidates.
We are thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with Lily Lapenna MBE. Jules Bevis and the incredible team at GLEOW to offer Executive coaching to all the candidates that we place. We have no doubt that, alongside the existing onboarding programs offered by our clients, this will dramatically improve our candidates’ chance of successfully integrating in to their new business and yielding some fantastic results for our clients

📝Monday's Management Lesson
"Protecting your People: A Leadership Act"
In 1985, a film company facing financial pressure hired a new president. In an effort to cut costs, the president asked the two leaders of a division, Ed and Alvy, to conduct layoffs. Ed and Alvy resisted—eliminating employees would dilute the company’s value. The president issued an ultimatum: a list of names was due to him at 9 o’clock the next morning.
When the president received the list, it contained two names: Ed and Alvy.
No layoffs were conducted, and a few months later Steve Jobs bought the division from Lucasfilm and started #pixar with Ed Catmull and Alvy Ray Smith.
Employees were grateful that “managers would put their own jobs on the line for the good of their teams,” marvels Stanford’s Robert Sutton, noting that even a quarter century later, this “still drives and inspires people at Pixar.”

Christian I Husband I Father I Entrepreneur I Speaker I Professional EOS Implementer I Helping hard charging business owners run a better business and live a better life.
The five biggest discoveries I've had for solving people issues in my businesses are:
1) Accept that People Issues are a reality of owning a business.
2) Take control of people issues by discovering what "great people" means for your company. Live and die on that definition. Hire, fire, promote, reward, speak it and be about that definition. In everything. Always.
3) Provide a clear structure with seats that define the key roles of each seat. Show them what it takes to do a great job in that seat, who reports to who, which seats are solving problems when they arise, etc.
4) Put the Right People in the Right Seats. People that have the natural abilities, a blistering desire and the accumulation of experience and skill to really own that seat.
5) Have Rockstars in seats that are responsible for leadership, management and accountability roles. They need to love watering the grass, solving problems and building humans.
Simple. Not easy.

In the realm of leadership, the lines between family and business often blur, offering both challenges and profound learning opportunities. I recently came across a thought-provoking perspective on why referring to a team as 'family' might be complex due to the tough decisions leaders must make, such as layoffs or firing an employee. It's a reminder of the fine line we navigate in fostering a culture of unity while upholding the accountability that our roles demand.
This reflection brought me back to an early-career revelation: sometimes, the hardest decisions, like letting a team member go, are necessary not just for the business but for the wellbeing of our own families and the team's future. It taught me to weigh my choices carefully, asking whether each person's contribution aligns with our collective mission to provide for our 'family' at work and home.
As we grow in our careers, embracing these moments of tough love and difficult decisions shapes us into more compassionate, decisive leaders. It's about finding balance, offering support, and driving towards our shared goals with integrity and empathy.
Remember, it's not just about the work we do but the impact we make on those we work with and for. Here's to navigating the complexities of leadership with grace and determination. Cheers to growth, learning, and making the tough calls with compassion. 🌟

In an era where company culture and leadership are paramount, it’s disheartening to see organizations still resorting to layoffs, especially in October – a time when families are preparing for the holiday season.
Effective leadership is about foresight, strategy, and empathy. The decision to lay off employees not only affects individual lives but also reflects on the core values of the organization.
It’s crucial for companies to reevaluate and prioritize the well-being of their employees. After all, true success is measured by the strength and resilience of the people who drive it. #LeadershipMatters#EmployeeWellbeing
From an HR Director’s perspective, your journey in making these hiring decisions is a valuable learning experience that underscores the importance of a holistic approach to recruitment. It highlights how different criteria can yield different results, and it resonates with a fundamental HR principle: the balance between experience, alignment with the company's vision, and the capacity to learn and adapt.
The first hire, while experienced, may not have aligned well with the company culture and values, resulting in their short tenure. This demonstrates that experience, while important, is not the sole predictor of success within a team.
The second hire, based on shared vision, lasted longer, suggesting that cultural alignment can significantly impact an employee's engagement and retention. However, the journey didn't end there, as their tenure was also relatively short.
It was the third hire, emphasizing a willingness to learn, who not only met but exceeded expectations. Their rapid rise within the company, leading the team in just 6 months, is a testament to the transformative power of a strong work ethic and adaptability.
This story serves as a reminder that while experience and cultural alignment are vital, the willingness to learn, grow, and adapt can be equally, if not more, valuable in building a thriving team. It reinforces the idea that finding the right fit is often a dynamic process, and that diverse qualities and experiences contribute to the overall success of an organization. It also underscores the significance of giving opportunities to individuals who are driven to excel and have the potential to lead. This holistic perspective can guide our future hiring decisions, ensuring that we continue to build a robust, dynamic, and successful team.

Building a More Fulfilling Workplace | Founder of Loomenti | Sharer of Thoughts 💭
I wanted the most experienced person I could find when I hired my first employee.
They left the company 2 weeks later.
For the next hire, I wanted someone that shared our vision.
They lasted for 3 months.
For the hire after that, I wanted someone that was willing to learn the role.
They exceeded all expectations. We promoted them 2 times in 6 months and they ended up leading the team.
Never underestimate someone with a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn.
