Generativism (n.): this is my name for our emerging AI pedagogy. It is a collaborative (human + GenAI) approach to learning and assessment design. We already have lots of practical examples and use cases from leaders in the field, who have been sharing their experiments in prompt engineering and innovative practice (thank you!), so all I'm really doing here is giving it a name and mapping it out using some learning design frameworks that put those experiments into the broader context. I've used a classic innovation technique - combination thinking - and starting with my favourite digital learning design frameworks, I've mapped GenAI onto them, to illustrate my process for creating active, social, collaborative and constructivist learning and assessment that is human-centred.
[Update: My article on how this works should be out this week, stay tuned and I will post it here too.]
I've got some slides in here on the recent UNESCO guidance on co-design, as I think this makes it clear how/why we need to be collaborating with GenAI as we plan, design and create education from here on in. I hope the rest of the slides speak for themselves, and that this suggestion for a design framework helps to put some of those fantastic use cases we are seeing from leaders in this space into a format that people can use in any discipline.
Feedback and input is welcome - I hope it makes sense!
