Additive manufacturing at production quantities requires a new mindset. It requires someone who can help create a new kind of supply chain. New technological developments have allowed companies to shift from a subtractive process to an additive process approach, and in doing so, reap the benefits of rapid prototyping in their products as well as their manufacturing processes. Here are some of the reason as to why rapid prototyping can be so cost effective: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 Rapid prototyping helps by eliminating the need for expensive tooling, moulds and fixtures in product development and production. This efficiency also extends to material usage, minimizing waste and optimizing resource inventory. DFA and DFM benefit hugely from rapid prototype processes. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 The agility RP provides is unparalleled. With technologies like 3D printing, prototypes can be produced in a fraction of the time. This speed translates to same day printing of designs, which can be tested or implemented almost immediately. Project times are shortened.
