I will be presenting this topic at the upcoming AWT convention in Grand Rapids, MI, next week. While I was a water treater, a power plant customer asked me to train their seasoned operators on boiler water treatment. How do you keep a group of experienced power plant operators engaged in a "chemistry" class? I created a boiler course on "What would happen if we didn't feed chemicals?" The training went well for the power plant, so I am now presenting a condensed version of this course at the AWT training at the annual convention. Hoping you could join us for this discussion. #watertreatment, #boilers, #AWT

This type of Safety talk with a no taboo discussion on how dangerous it can be to work inside a desal facility that is not given the proper care and attention was long overdue! Thanks to everyone involved for bringing forward an important topic for the #waterindustry! Major sources of dangers DO exist in a desal plant even if I am a big fan of SWRO plants for the multiple benefits they bring to society. HIGH PRESSURE, CORROSION, HIGH VELOCITY, QUASI PERMANENT OPERATIONS, CHEMICALS: real recipe for disasters if not taken seriously. A SWRO plant is an environment that requires professional knowledge and careful behaviors at all steps of Design, Construction and Operation. When properly designed and operated, there are no reasons to be worried about safety inside a Desal plant; so let's make sure we do things the right way! 👍 Good Job Doug Eisberg for leading the way! Super proud of you Leo Tua-Parra for representing Piedmont Pacific International Desalination Association and American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) are two great institutions who teach the professional community about these key topics!
I would like to thank my panelists and the attendees for participating in the AMTA / AWWA Panel at the 2024 Membrane Technology Conference entitled: ADDRESSING GLOBAL MEMBRANE SYSTEM SAFETY AND RELIABILITY My panelists included: Jack Thornburgh - Tampa Bay Water Peter Darby - Founder of Advanced Structures / CodeLine Atul Kakkar - General Manager CodeLine Leo Tua Parra - Piedmont Pacific John Dietrich - Dietrich Consulting Group Sean Maccagh - RO-TEG Olivier Bedague - Protec Arisawa Jim Harn - Founder of Harn RO The panelist discussion was lively and we covered a lot of good questions during the audience participation. As we discussed, getting the industry to focus of this important topic might be a challenge, but with all the recent vessel and coupling failures, every end user, consultant and system supplier should take notice. As announced at MTC, the the AMTA G-002-2024 GUIDELINE FOR MEMBRANE SYSTEM SAFETY AND RELIABILITY will be distributed for key stake holder comments at the end of this month. The AMTA Guideline Committee was been working hard on this important document that should benefit our global industry. Thanks again to everyone.

Was happy to be able to attend the Summer 2023 CGA Committee Summit in Gulf Shores, Alabama! I learned a lot about "No Call Damages" that I can take back to my organization and educate people on. Excavators or active diggers not calling 811 before they dig makes up 25% of the total damages submitted to the DPI DIRT metric system, but there are much more "No Calls" that don't get reported because no damage occurred. My takeaway from the conference is as follows: -We need to better educate people on the dangers of digging without calling 811, and the process of filing a ticket. -Technology is the future of accurate utility line marking, and we must continue to progress and integrate it. -Reporting data into the DIRT system is an important part of figuring out the issues with the current system and how to solve them. For my part, I want to start getting members of the CGA and PHMSA into college campuses and trade schools to reach out to the youth about these issues! If you would like to know more, you can message me or email me at Jonathan.B.Hagerty@outlook.com. You can also visit Call811.com to learn more about the 811 process for each individual state!

On March 22, Charles Choyce, Que-Anh Pham, and Anton Sibrin will present "Proper and Effective Uses of Recovery Schedules on Construction Projects" at the AACE International Region 2 Northeast Symposium. This session will explore the steps that should be taken to minimize the risk associated with a demand for a recovery schedule, how a contractor should respond to such a demand, how to approach acceleration and schedule development, what to include (and not include) in a recovery schedule, and who pays for the acceleration costs to meet a recovery schedule. #aacenesymposium2024 #construction
