He was offered 2 jobs: one at Ford Motor Company for $479 a month, and another at Sylvania Group for $480 a month. At first glance, #Ford seemed like the obvious choice. However, #Chang saw potential beyond the immediate numbers. He requested Ford match #Sylvania's offer, a mere $1 more. Surprisingly, Ford declined. Undeterred, Chang made the bold decision to join Sylvania, setting the stage for an extraordinary journey. At Sylvania, Chang immersed himself in the burgeoning field of transistors and microchips, becoming an expert in the rapidly evolving technology landscape. Armed with knowledge and determination, he eventually ventured to establish Taiwan Semiconductor. Fast forward to today, and the impact of Chang's decision is undeniable. TSMC stands as a global powerhouse, worth almost half a trillion dollars and responsible for producing 60% of the world's chips. I think I figured it out…🤔 “What’s that?” you might ask. Back in March 2022, I wrote an article posing the question on ‘what 3 things best describe you and what you do’ and at that time I struggled to articulate what that looked like for me. So a year ago today I took the decision to reflect on this question more deeply and explore and experiment with a world outside my narrow field of view. I’d been in the Automotive world and with Bosch for over 22 years, presented with countless interesting career opportunities, worked with some of the most talented people in this space and learnt more than I could have ever imagined - gratitude for Bosch, my team mates, my leaders, my peers and all those I worked with at the OEMs, yes gratitude is one word I’d use to express how I feel right now and there are too many people to mention, especially those who are sadly no longer with us. And right now I also have a sense of clarity as I hang up my corporate career boots and enter a new world on my first day outside of Bosch. Although I have no certainty on what tomorrow will bring, I’m excited at the prospect of being able to focus my attention on what I love most, doing the things which I’m good at, offering something of value to the world and ultimately making a reasonable income too! - this is my Ikigai So in answer to my question from March 2022, I can conclude that I’m a passionate foodie and so from here on in you will find me… 🔹 …creating experiences which bring people together around food cooked from scratch in the form of retreats, kitchen takeovers and private events; 🔹 …launching a new street food concept for music and food festivals around the uk; and 🔹 …developing a range of hand crafted Indian spice blends Specifically for this community, I’ve created a unique and interactive team building experience that draws on all three aspects, to assist organisations along their high performance journey. Last week was the first in my new role with Tesla at the Giga Factory in Austin. I’m an “all-in or nothing” and a “yes and” type of person. On one hand, this means that leaving my last role at Spurs Sports & Entertainment was very difficult, due to the meaning I found in that role and the organization, as well as the incredible people I worked with. My development there was transformational, and I will miss my time and my team there. On the other hand, the experience during my first week on the People Development team at Tesla showed me that I’m encouraged to be my fullest, most curious, unadulterated self, seeking to learn, understand, develop, connect, and grow as part of a high-performing and high-trust team. While I can’t know what exactly is in store for me, I find peace and comfort knowing that it will be good. I also know that I’m very lucky to have found deep fulfillment in work at so many places. I’m grateful to find another place that supports my purpose of helping others rise to their greatest heights by digging deeper in themselves through engaging learning experiences. I’m in the business of making people better, and now the journey of mastery continues back in Austin. In celebrating the gifts that my professional life continues to give me, I acknowledge that my efforts, which I’m proud of, would not have resulted in the same outcomes without help and guidance from so many others. What makes this move even more special are the unexpected changes, (re)connections, and beginnings that I get to experience that make this life beautiful. Onward.

Walt disney was fired from his dream animation job because he was told he lacks creativity... Micheal Jordon was cut from his high school basketball team because he wasn't good enough... JK Rowling who wrote Harry Porter was rejected by 12 different publishers and that book went on to sell 500 million copies.... Soichiro Honda once said “success is 99% failure” — In 1930s he worked hard to develop the concept of the piston ring — an idea he hoped to perfect and sell to Toyota. The design was ultimately rejected and Soichiro endured ridicule from his peers when he returned to school. Fred Smith, founder of FedEx pitched his idea first in Yale University Business Management Class to be ridiculed and rejected. Now it's hard to imagine the world without FedEx. James Dyson developed 5126 prototypes and used all his savings over the course of 15 years before finalizing and launching the Dual Cyclone vacuum cleaner, which went on sale in stores in 1993. Dyson now is the most premium and world renown cleaning product. The best among all, In Thomas Alva Edison's childhood....a school teacher informed him that he was “too stupid to learn anything,” and suggested he go into a field that did not require intelligence. He departed the world with a whopping 1,093 patents!! So remember when you avoid or ridicule failures the next time... probably it will turn out to be among the biggest success of the century. #ClosingThoughtsForTheWeek

According to IG Metall’s district manager for Berlin, Dirk Schulze, Tesla laid off around 200 employees in June and a variety of temporary workers had been let go, without reducing the plant’s weekly production goal of 5,000 cars. “We welcome the creation of jobs within the automotive trade in Germany. Tesla’s plans are a transparent dedication to Brandenburg as a location,” said Schulze, “Before the expansion of the plant, the expansion of the working conditions of the colleagues in Grünheide must now finally have priority.” Tesla’s expansion plans will bring more job opportunities as the Grünheide site will become the largest automotive plant in Germany, with an annual capacity of 1 million vehicles. Responding to the layoffs at the Grünheide site, the US electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer said in June that it no longer needed as many temporary workers at the site as it did in its ramp-up phase. At plants like Shanghai that have been running at near full capacity, such workforce adjustments are still commonly seen as Tesla makes efforts to optimize its operational efficiency. In early July, Tesla reportedly laid off some workers in the battery assembly lines at its Shanghai plant as well, as part of the automaker’s move to outsource some battery pack production to suppliers, according to local media 36kr. 1 year at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India I remember the day 1 after leaving Citrix and starting the career with Mercedes. A decision which is never easy after spending long time in one company. But last 365 days have been just mind blowing. Let it be topics, team, energy, environment. Having the independence to solve a problem through whatever tech we can is like dream come true. Here are major 5 wins for me. 1. We get to think and execute out of box for problem solving. 2. We talk openly about our failures and lessons. 3. Team celebrates culture of success. 4. Leaders are visionary and open for feedback. 5.
