After a restful holiday break, I am happy to be back at the ballpark and BUSY as we gear up for an exciting year! As I shift my focus on elevating communications and enhancing the employer brand strategy for the Pittsburgh Pirates, I wanted to share a vision board to define my season. Three things that will be important to me this year: 1. CONSISTENCY in Excellence 🔄 Whether it's in decision-making processes or daily operations, I expect nothing less than excellence from myself and will strive to get 1% better every day (thank you Craig Warzecha for this inspiration). 2. IMPACTFUL Strategies for Success 💡 I seek to craft strategies that have a profound impact on the Pirates. Every decision will be purposeful and in alignment with our employer brand, aiming for a lasting impact that resonates throughout our organization. 3. INSPIRING a Winning Culture 🤝 Inspiration fuels success, and for every project I execute this year I want to make sure I blend passion with purpose. I aspire to lead by example while also recognizing and being inspired by others for their accomplishments. If you're already feeling inspired (or want to learn more about the front office at the Pittsburgh Pirates,) reach out to me and check out our job opportunities: https://lnkd.in/gRHz5pER Happy New Year and Let's Go Bucs! ⚾🏴☠️ #workinsports #frontofficeimpact #consistency #excellence #inspiresuccess

In a recent headline-making move, HR Grapevine highlighted Citadel's CEO, Ken Griffith, for demonstrating the company's unparalleled appreciation for its employees. Griffith went above and beyond, treating his 10,000-strong workforce and their families to a dream trip to Disneyland Tokyo. The extravagant experience featured private concerts by Maroon 5 and Calvin Harris, with all expenses covered! Keep in mind that it's not always about booking the entire team a ticket to Disneyland for the big win. It's also about recognizing the small victories that contribute to the big win and commemorating the milestone moments along the way. It's important to consider the value of continuous appreciation. At Applauz, we encourage employers to think creatively and thoughtfully when recognizing and rewarding their employees. Remember that recognizing achievements and treating staff with genuine, personalized gestures of gratitude not only boosts morale but also contributes to a positive workplace culture all around. #EmployeeAppreciation #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeRecognition

A fantastic start to Total Rewards 24 at WorldatWork in Cincinnati and the first session included a very thoughtful talk by the brilliant Jeff Kreisler on behavioural science and its application to the workplace. Key learns for me: 🔔 We all intrinsically know the right thing to do, data tells us, the world tells us but we more often than not do something different. 🔔 You have to make it easier to do the right thing in business create the personal “nudge” you need to make the right decision. 🔔 Making good decisions are hard -you have to try and normalize this - a decision is doing something right now for the benefit of the future - but accept that the future is uncertain. 🔔 You can’t change human nature - but we can try to understand this. We can use human nature for their benefit - instead of conflict it’s collaboration! 🎤 🎤 Top quote: “ Endow something with your effort and you will value it more. If you are part of building something you are always going to be more connected to it. Find a way to make your employees part of the build” 🎤 🎤 A great start to the day, more sessions to come and the party at the ball park tonight! ⚾

Just thinking out of the box. Give me your thoughts on this as a practical idea to foster employee appreciation. “Implementing a six-week job rotation program for new hires in all corporations would allow them to experience and understand the various levels of work involved in the organization. This approach could foster a greater appreciation for the challenges faced at lower levels, enhance interdepartmental communication, and develop a well-rounded skill set among employees. By gaining firsthand experience in different roles, new hires could better grasp the company’s operations, leading to improved teamwork and potentially more innovative problem-solving. Additionally, this program could help identify the strengths and interests of new employees, guiding them to roles where they can contribute most effectively.”

🌟 Team Spotlight: Meet Summer Jenkins, General Manager at Lingwood Security Management! From starting as an eager tea-maker to being at the forefront of our company's day-to-day operations, Summer's journey embodies dedication, growth, and leadership. 🔍 Summer's Story: After completing college, Summer discussed with her father, Alan Snr, an opportunity to gain real-world experience at Lingwood Security. Initially hesitant to answer phones, she quickly found her footing under the guidance of her mentor, Heather. As she immersed herself in various aspects of our business, Summer discovered her passion for shaping the company's trajectory. 💼 Managing Operations: As General Manager of the family business, Summer wears many hats. She meticulously reviews and implements our quality management systems, prioritises health and safety measures, and ensures our policies and procedures are seamlessly integrated across the company. She works closely with her full management team and serves as a trusted personal assistant to our Managing Director Alan Lingwood Jnr, ensuring his vision for the company is realised while keeping our team aligned with our overarching goals. 💡 Insight & Growth: What surprises Summer most about her journey with Lingwood Security? It's the prevailing misconceptions surrounding the security industry. Contrary to popular belief, security companies and officers play a pivotal role in safeguarding individuals and communities in everyday life. However, managing diverse personalities and staying on top of evolving technology remain her ongoing challenges. 🚀 Future Outlook: Looking ahead, Summer envisions significant growth for Lingwood Security. With an expansion into the rail industry underway and plans to nurture internal talent for managerial and supervisory roles, the future looks promising. As the private security industry gains recognition for its indispensable role, Summer sees a bright and dynamic future for Lingwood. 🎧 Beyond Work: Outside of her role at Lingwood, you might find her behind the DJ booth or organising events. An overthinker, busy bee, and self-proclaimed stress-head, Summer's kindness and supportiveness shine through in her leadership style. Join us in celebrating Summer's remarkable journey and contributions to Lingwood Security's success! 🎉 #EmployeeSpotlight #LeadershipJourney #keepingpeoplesafe #uksecurityindustry #lingwoodsecuritymanagement

When the doorbell rang, I couldn’t help but grin because it meant my all-time favorite meal was here! My workspace was set up like a pro, ready for the evening’s Zoom call. Each year, the Steople team pulls off this amazing global planning session, spanning time zones from Australia to New Zealand and, of course, the U.S. It’s a night (for us in the U.S.) and a morning (for our Aussie and Kiwi buddies) filled with connection, planning, and, most importantly, amazing food. This is hands down one of the best times of the year for us because not only do we get to shape the company’s future, but we also get to hang out with our colleagues from around the world. Picture this: the U.S. team was soaking up the late afternoon sun, donning short sleeves and sandals, while our mates down under in Australia were all cozied up in sweaters, enjoying fireside chats. This year, our global planning session had a laser focus on our Employee Value Proposition (EVP), and it was a blast exploring all the reasons that make our company so special, backed up by stories from our valued team members. #stakeholders #culture #strategy #succesion #success #wealth#believe #hustle #inspire #growth #leadershiptips #fittolead #evp#leadershipdevelopment https://lnkd.in/gPM69Jbv

Out of office on and ready for my summer leave. As I drove home this evening I reflected on this quarter and my key takeaways. General Hyman G. Rickover “Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible” I’ve spent a bit of time trying to map responsibility using a casual diagram and I’ve not yet managed to point a finger. General Hyman G. Rickover “The Devil is in the details, but so is salvation” If no one can tell me the detail behind the high level idea, there is no plan. There are too many big hand small map conversations. General Hyman G. Rickover “Human experience shows that people, not organizations or management systems, get things done” In a global war for talent, your actions, behaviours, choices and words are most often the catalyst for your teams success, not the pay or the contract. You get the team you deserve #peopleandculture #complexity #accountability

I love seeing innovative flex policies. Smucker’s new policy outlines 22 core weeks instead of the now common weekly core days with the intent of having employees on site for 20-25% of their work time on an annual basis. I believe this is substantially more flexible than weekly core days. A similar iteration I’ve seen that sounds effective is one core week a month with attendance expected 3-4 days those core weeks but no expectation other weeks. There’s no perfect answer but I love seeing innovative companies iterate. Of course, all of these policies bring up the question about real estate efficiency but we’ll just save that conversation for another post. Let me know your thoughts below. (Yesterday's post linked in the comments below) The intent of my posts will always be to stimulate conversation in an effort for us all to learn from each other. #CorporateRealEstate #Workplace #FutureOfWork #FacilityManagement #Technology #ThinkBigger #RemoteWork

Happy Friday Connections!! Yesterday, I braved the cold and traveled from our Newcastle office to our vibrant Leeds hub, and what a busy day it was! —The key thing I got out of yesterday was an opportunity to connect, laugh, and learn from different corners of SPG who I don't sit with daily. Here are a few things I got from yesterday: Bringing Colleagues Together: There's something special about getting colleagues from different offices together under one roof, even if it is only for a few hours. It fosters collaboration and strengthens that drive that allows our collective success. Fun: Yesterday was filled with jokes, anecdotes, and an amazing team lunch. It's incredible how laughter can build camaraderie and foster teamwork. Learning: One of the most important aspects of connecting with colleagues from different offices is the opportunity to learn from each other. Whether it's sharing insights, exchanging perspectives, or brainstorming ideas. Looking forward to the next trip down and getting team Leeds up to the Toon in a few weeks!! #SPG
