Why Ventoux will become one of the great appellations of the Southern Rhône
Le Ventoux, a land of the future? Emmanuel Perrin
Boasting the coolest climate in the south of the Rhône Valley and preserved landscapes, the Ventoux vineyard is popular. In recent years, the establishment of ambitious winegrowers and the rise of white wines have been the talk of the town.
In the Ventoux appellation, in just 4 years, the production of white wines has increased by more than a third of its initial volumes. And more than 12% of this 5,500 hectare vineyard is already planted with white grape varieties. It must be said that the combination of limestone terroir and cool climate favors the production of a color that many vineyards in the southern zone envy in Ventoux. “Benefiting from this freshness and such thermal amplitudes, due to the proximity of Mont Ventoux, allows us to have more sparkling whites and with better acidity. In addition, our ampelographic richness, with the Grenache Blanc, Clairette but also Roussanne, Viognier, Vermentino, Bourboulenc, etc. grape varieties, constitutes a formidable toolbox for creating wide ranges in a territory that lends itself to it,” explains Frédéric. Chaudière, winemaker at Château Pesquié and president of the AOC Ventoux.

Most people love wine. That's a fact. And few people know where Uruguay is. Another fact. And that's fine. You get to know countries based on family stories, your history class or singular elements that enable you to find new places. Could be a person, could be a particular issue going on, could be where someone special to you was born.
This is a business story. How can you become ranked #6 among the top vineyards in the world coming from an unknown country ?
Bodega Garzon did that. Here my -business- ideas why they could do it.
1. A big dream. The owner, a renowned Argentinean businessman fall if love with Uruguay. And by design he said he will develop the best vineyard in the world. Brought an italian specialist, some good investments and great team, and executed a plan.
2. Care for the customer. Garzon had since the beginning a clear understanding that considers as important, the grapes, the winemaker, the brand and the customers, local and international. They created an amazing winery where you feel top in the world. They are Uruguay ambassadors whenever there is a wine event. It's not the wine. It's the entire experience
3. Be proud. Check the video introducing the winery. You will see the owner there , proudly tasting one of the wines. Yes, be proudly part of the story.
4. Faith. This winery is a clear example that we can all build new futures. And better ones. Even from places that are not the obvious. In my opinion, builders like these are the ones that bring together the new type of consumers. Those that want fresh, world class services and products. They favour the stories that they can experience. Not just the ones they were told.
5. Results. Garzon is deliverying. Is creating jobs and examples to others. Is driving the new positioning of Uruguay in the global wine scene. Is in the tables of all great restaurants and part of a dining ritual everywhere.
Congratulations Bodega Garzon !
By the way, writing this I cannot disconnect from what we are doing at Arionkoder. Aiming for the top.
