New research by the American Staffing Association suggests that while the older generation of Americans may not be the most tech-savvy, they’re actually the demographic that most prefers to work from home full-time. It’s an unexpected finding when you think about the stereotypical belief that older Americans are less likely to be interested in technology and figuring out how it works, while younger Americans — most of whom grew up using technology — are far more advanced. 👉 https://lnkd.in/d668_fW6 . . . . #RemoteWorkLife #GenZatWork #BoomersWorking #USARemoteJobs #DigitalNomadLife #GenZProfessionals #BoomerWorkforce #USARemoteWork #RemoteWorkCulture #GenZCareers #BoomerRemoteJobs #USAGenZ #RemoteWorkTrends #GenZWorkforce #BoomerProfessionals #USABabyBoomers #RemoteWorkRevolution #GenZRemoteJobs #BoomerGeneration #USARemoteOpportunities

Countries around the world are experiencing the beginnings of demographic shifts caused by an ageing population. 👴👵 For the first time in recorded history, there are now more elderly people than young children on the planet. The UN estimates that by 2050, one in six people will be over the age of 65, up from one in 11 in 2019. Older workers gain a boost in motivation when younger workers seek knowledge from them, a study from the University of Cologne has found. How can this information about collaboration be utilised to help workplaces adapt in the face of increasingly aged workforces? 🤔 As populations age, governments are legislating against ageist hiring practices, to ensure that the workforce is not denuded in the future. The new laws are needed as employers are traditionally wary of hiring older workers, despite their evident experience. With demographic trends meaning that workforces are ageing, and technological change ever swifter, companies will need to figure out ways to forge meaningful intergenerational collaboration. There needs to be an exchange of skills and information regardless of age. When the experience of an older worker meets the tech-savviness of a younger co-worker, collaboration between older and younger employees can work techno-magical wonders. Here is some data showing the positive trend of workforce participation rates for mothers with kids under age of five. Remote work will have played a part in enabling this good news 👇
Some good news on a Friday: More moms of young kids are in the workforce than ever before. This is truly amazing! Many women have kids in the prime of their careers. They've spent years getting educated and climbing the ranks, only to be met with impossible demands and expectations between being moms and progressing their careers. Remote work (and more flexible work in general) is a godsend here, eliminating absolute wastes of time that consume our lives- commuting, staying late in the office for no reason, etc. The more we can continue to support work that promotes outcomes over outdated norms like facetime in an office, the more women won't have to choose between their careers or their kids. #futureofwork #remotework #workingmoms https://lnkd.in/eFnHt4ws

Quality Assurance ✅ Data Analysis 📊 Team Lead 🙌🏻 Learning & Development 👩🏼💻 Project Management 📝 Web Development
This is a HUGE shift in the status quo, and such positive news too 👏🏻 Remote work, flexible work, doesn't just benefit mothers - but PARENTS - and those with other types of familial responsibilities (those who are carers, looking after siblings, or extended family/friends etc) I can honestly speak to the benefits of remote working - It's not for everyone, and that's fine. But I can genuinely say it has been a significant positive influence on all my relationships, my general overall health (mental, physical, emotional, social), and my home life too through the different seasons of my life. Not sure if remote work is for you? Not sure if it will benefit your employees? I'm happy to meet anyone, anytime for a coffee chat and regale you of my 6+ years of experience working remotely! 💚 #workingmothers #workingparents #remotework

The amount of mothers with young children that are in the workforce have hit pre pandemic levels and do you know what's driving this, according to this article? Remote work. Like it or not, remote work offers women an option to be available to their kids while also being valued members of the workplace. To be fair though, something this article doesn't talk about is how the cost of living has prohibited many families from being single income. I think many women don't have the choice but to work and remote work offers flexibility that so many women need. What are your thoughts? #remotework #workingmoms #womenatwork

I’ve become very intrigued by and supportive of the 4 day work week exploration/pilot testing in the States. Numbers of countries and hundreds upon hundreds of companies/organizations are proving that the 4 day/32 hour work week is successful. I might be off however, I believe 400+ companies have transitioned successfully to this new model across the US thus far. From increased productivity and revenue to improved mental health, there is no doubt that the future of business is evolving before us right now. Just look at the numbers of solopreneurs launching with immense value to offer outside of their fulltime careers! The standard 40 hour week, that was set nearly 100 years ago, just might continue to evolve with the times, in certain types of work cultures, industries, etc… with a new standard that still values productivity, but with peace of mind and mental health prioritized as core pillars as well. Shoutout to Phil McParlane @ 4 Day Week (4dayweek.io) for leading the movement across the globe! What’s your take on the standard work week potentially evolving over time? #workweek #4dayworkweek #mentalhealth #peaceofmind #productivity #leadership #corporateamerica #business #businesstransformation #humanresources #lifestyle #3dayweekend #careers #future #unitedstates

When we talk about ageism, the focus is often on how the more mature population is ostracized from the workplace, pushed out as if their ageing is some toxic spore infecting the organization, like mold spreading through pipes. However, a striking reality is often overlooked. Young professionals also experience ageism in the workplace. #hradvice #youngprofessionals #ageisjustanumber #youngtalents Check out my blog post https://wix.to/3CGW4jV If you're interested in reviewing the journal article, you may do so at https://lnkd.in/gUA5fcmv

5 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝 According to LinkedIn, generational stereotypes often infiltrate the workplace, with older workers frequently facing age discrimination despite comprising a significant portion of the labor force. Debunking common myths about older workers is essential for fostering an equitable workplace environment and promoting talent acquisition based on skills rather than age-based biases. Myths Debunked: ✅ Lack of Creativity: Contrary to the belief that creativity is exclusively associated with youth, research indicates that different forms of creativity can develop at various stages of one's career. ✅ Grumpiness: Older individuals tend to be happier and more satisfied with their jobs compared to younger workers. ✅ Productivity Decline: Older workers exhibit comparable productivity levels to younger counterparts and often contribute significantly to company success. Incapability with Technology: Older workers are often adept at learning and adapting to new technologies, challenging the stereotype of their resistance to tech. ✅ Expense: While hiring older workers may involve slightly higher labor costs, the benefits of their experience, retention rates, and higher engagement levels can lead to improved business outcomes. Redefining perceptions about older workers and recognizing their valuable contributions can lead to a more inclusive and productive work environment, ultimately benefiting both employees and employers alike.
