I've learned a lot recently about the dichotomy of belief. 💭💡
There are both limiting beliefs and empowering beliefs.
Just because you believe something... it doesn't necessarily make it true. But when you believe something entirely... you may make it true simply because you believe it.
In sales, I've had managers tell me that my annual production goal was "impossible" before. That belief limited both them, and me.
Realizing that I'd adopted a false belief similar to the one above, and then (with total disgust) letting go of it, has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life recently.
In April of 1954, people were telling Roger Bannister that breaking the 4-minute mile was impossible too. In May 1954, he did it in 3 minutes, 59.4 seconds.
Now, roughly 60 people break the 4-minute mile every year. It's been done by hundreds of different people.
Once it was done, it was like it had always been done.
Don't let anyone write your beliefs. Be a lighthouse, not a weathervane.

Happy Father's Day! 🏌️♂️ Could Bryson DeChambeau have provided us all a lesson in Business 101? Initially I was not a fan, but I've come to admire his transformation into a golfing sensation and successful brand. By embracing humility, gratitude, and accommodation, he totally remade his image. His strategic use of YouTube and Snapchat for marketing is truly brilliant. Take notes: treating clients with the same care could lead to phenomenal outcomes. Great work, Bryson! 🌟 #Business101#MarketingStrategy#ClientRelations
Ever had a bad bounce?
In tech, things can change on a dime.
When I was 13, as a goalie in hockey, I once let in a goal from half… it was not my day!
But it was nothing compared to when I watched an NHL goalie let in one from ~200 feet (see quick clip below).
‘Unlucky bounces’, or unexpected setbacks are inevitable.
Instead of letting them throw off a day, or week, it can be helpful to prepare strategies to deal with these situations.
Here are three techniques I’ve leaned on:
1) Regroup with Positivity - Take a step back and try not to dwell.
2) Learn and Improve - Understand why something happened, and improve for the future.
3) Move Forward with Intent - One foot in front of the other and take action.
Develop strategies for potential hiccups, and you'll likely be better prepared to handle them.
What other strategies are helpful when dealing with setbacks?
Did NFL teams make the right choices in free agency?
Will the Bears actually trade Justin Fields??? Packets let Aaron Jones leave were they right?
