Collectibles are considered alternative investments, so get out your old liquor, baseball memorabilia and of course my horses, but it could get tricky becuase… VALUATION There is some huge appreciation out there especially in the art world, but there has to be a market for what you are collecting/investing in. I put collectibles into two buckets: The first is to say you own it: I’m going with a Rolex, 100 year old bottle of whiskey, a horse (or fractional share of 1 or 3) That’s right, value is truely in the eye of the beholder… it’s a small market but there is a world out there. The second has a larger secondary market: Baseball cards, Coins, Comic Books, cars, and other items. All of my items are just for sentimental reasons: 1 share of Kentucky Derby winning Authentic current ROI 23.97% in just under 4 years (keeping cost flat with no valuation) 1 share of Max Player (unknown) 1960 Mickey Mantle #350 (Dad’s Baseball Card Collection) $350ish poor condition.
