a problem-solver in an orange apron, not-a-sales-associate. it's been almost 2 months on field. and, i realized, my designations, although it reads as a Paint Sales Associate, is that of a Paint Problem-solver. why? even before any customer is at my desk, they are anticipating, they are hopeful. they come in, believing and putting their faith and trust on me and almost a 180 of us in this The Home Depot Canada, Kitchener West store. sometimes they know what they're here for. sometimes they don't. but, they almost always leave the premises with either the product or a promise of a solution (if not from our store, somewhere else) "i'll take whatever you'll say." "what do you recommend?" "i know you can't choose for me, but can you tell me which one looks better?" "ummm. i'm not so sure." "i'll come back again." all these statements for the place they call home. and, of all the people i've met working here, i know that they all want these people to take away what's best for their home and their pockets. we're problem solvers. at least most of us. SALES associate is what our job title says.

Some important things I’ve learned through my first three weeks as assistant service advisor: 1. Effective communication not only with customers but with your coworkers. 2. Putting the customer and their needs first. 3. Knowledge of the different services required for each vehicle. 4. Effectively communicate with technicians about what’s going on in the shop. 5. Make sure the Carwash is operating smoothly and not falling behind. 6. Make sure waiters at the dealership are checked in and checked out in a timely manner. 7. Manage deliveries and returns effectively. 8. If a customer has been waiting for too long make sure they understand why that might be happening and assure them that their vehicle will be done soon. 9. Always greet customers and make sure they know that they are valued. 10. Last but not least, when work is stressing me out, take a deep breath and do everything that I can to make sure everything operates smoothly. While the service department may be different from Sales there are many similarities from both of them. I value my experiences in Sales and Service and look forward to using these skills to help me grow more in the real world.

As a Sales Representative, there is always that public perception of a bad wrap that comes with that title. There are those bad apples in every industry, and painting a single brush over everyone is not a good outlook. Even before I was a sales representative working in the construction industry, I had a sour outlook on those in the industry. A few of the things were “it must be nice to do a few hours of work a day and take off whenever you want”. “Driving around in a luxury car all day sounds fun”. The list goes on. It's funny as an outsider looking in. Everything seems so glamorous and easy. Boy, was I ever wrong! Everything that I had ever thought was the total opposite. I am saying this because many clients felt the same way I did. Then when they work with me, they realize the number of hours the sacrifice and the determination that goes into every transaction. I will never forget what my client said to me after countless evenings and weekends completing showings and offers later. “How do you do it? I had no idea what all this took to complete. I could not do what you do” I never considered it then and responded, “It's my job.” Then, later on, on the drive home, I was thinking about what they had said. It may be my job, but I do it because there is no other career I would even consider doing that gives me the feeling of helping others acquire their goals and being a part of that process. 🚫🙄 Sick of hearing the same old line from equipment rental salesmen: “We have all your rental needs”? It’s the most tired, overused cliche in the book! They’ll throw it around like confetti, but where’s the substance? Where’s the real value? Let’s break it down: Anyone can claim to have “ALL YOUR RENTAL NEEDS,” but what does that even mean? Are they just selling you the idea of a service without explaining why it’s the best choice for you? I want more than empty promises and catchy phrases. I want to know why I should trust them with my business. Tell me about your products! Show me how they can solve my problems and make my life easier. Imagine a different approach: “Here’s why our rental service stands out: We offer [specific features]. Our products are designed to [solve specific problems]. Here’s how we can save you time and money.” Now that’s a message that gets my attention! Give me substance, give me knowledge, and I’ll gladly listen. So, dear salesmen, here’s a tip: Next time you want to win over a client, ditch the tired old lines and tell them why you’re the best choice. Trust me, we’re all waiting to hear it. Happy Tuesday🌟 As a sales representative in the sales department, I have always believed that engaging in meaningful conversations with front line workers is a crucial aspect of enhancing our understanding of product sales. Recently, I had the privilege of having close discussions with the workers on the #coverall, #isolationgown production floor, providing me with a comprehensive insight into the details of product manufacturing. 🛠️👩🏭 During these exchanges, I had fruitful discussions with the workers about the daily output of #coverall, #isolationgown, challenges in the production process, and the issues they encounter in their work.
