As you know, jet lag from long plane trips over multiple time zones is a vert real phenomenon. I've studied and tried many methods to deal with it, but really have never found one that works well. We usually scuffle thru about 2 weeks of waking up at 3-3:30A, eating, working and going back to sleep a few hours later. The 2 weeks is a constant, going back about 20 years or so. I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas they've found to be effective? Here are some new opportunities that we've uncovered recently: • Engineering Manager role with fast growing, profitable $55 M Midwest custom mfg. architectural products co. • Engineering Manager needed to manage all a pects of design & engineering for Southern based division of $80M custom wood and metal products company. • General Manager with metal fabrication background for New Jersey division of a large company. • Remote Design Engineer role with profitable $35M custom fixtures co. • Quality Manager for division of Fortune 500 company based in the midwest • Business Development Manager needed for large custom products provider for the supermarket and pharmacy company segment. #manufacturing #cusotmmanufacturing # jobs #designengineering #engineeringmangement #displays #fixtures #storefixtures #POP #drafting #manufacturingmanagement #manufacturingengineering

Engineer that designs for production IS NOT the same as the engineer that designs one-off machines/designs. Now I know y'all are probably thinking... but wait. Engineers that design for production have actually taken nothing and made it work very well, how are they not the same? The production engineer is totally able to do the one-offs.... right? Simply put - NO. In rare cases, maybe, but generally - NO. Design for production involves multiple design iteration phases to: create a concept(s), whittle down the concept list, prove it can be built, manufactured, passes testing, refined for cost (and to address the issues that come up from the different phases). They've got like a mile of runway to land that tiny Cessna. The end goal is a cost effective design that works and they can choose how they decide to execute When designing one-offs, engineers don't get all this runway. It's more like landing a C-130 on an aircraft carrier. It just has to work or you run out of space. We make decisions faster and have to look at the end goal constantly in the moment because there isn't a second chance to iterate if the cost is too high. We're allowed some flexibility in the costs because processes wont be fully optimized, but when you're making a handful of parts at a time, it doesn't make that big of a difference when you are nickel and diming 10,000 parts per year We insist and stick to design reviews religiously because design pace is high and need to hit the target is even higher. Production folks don't see as much need and often let them slide because the whole team has been watching the development for so long. We also have to design for assembly and service/repairs because that machine is going to be used for many years. Production - it's fine to throw stuff out and sell repair parts. The one-off engineer is highly engaged and dreams of having a longer landing strip, but enjoys the thrill of the chase and actually does quite well in a production setting. The production engineers would actually hone their skills if they had to intern in the one-off role.

From Setback to Innovation: The Birth of Sunburn Schematics Last year's layoff gave me the push to finish grad school and spend more time with my family. During this period, I did some consulting and contract work, which led me to realize that turning this work into a full-time business was the perfect blend of sales and engineering I'd always wanted. In my career, I struggled to balance sales and engineering. Despite my experience in robotics and manufacturing management, I wanted to engage with customers and dive deeply into technical work. To achieve this, I worked on professional engineering projects and side projects that allowed me to pitch, sell, and market directly to customers. Through my experience with hardware startups, I noticed common challenges for young teams. Prototyping an MVP is one thing, but engineering a scalable product involves anticipating manufacturing problems, performing DFM, and setting up supply chains and distribution channels. I saw an opportunity to bridge this gap for early-stage companies. Sunburn Schematics was born from my desire to share my knowledge and expertise. A chance meeting with Glenn and Dan in downtown SF turned this idea into a full-fledged engineering team. Over tea at the Center SF, they helped me turn Sunburn Schematics into my professional focus. At Sunburn Schematics, we are a dedicated team of hardware engineers ready to help your team research, design, prototype, iterate, and manufacture your hardware. With over 40 years of combined experience in industrial design, product development, electrical and mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and firmware, we ensure your hardware projects succeed. Join us on this journey. Bring us your toughest hardware challenges, and together, we might make the unimaginable possible. #SunburnSchematics #HardwareEngineering #ProductDevelopment #Innovation #Engineering #Manufacturing #Prototyping #TechInnovation

How to select a Detailer, Series 1: 👉PRICING While it's natural to seek the best deal, be wary of significantly lower prices. Professional Detailing involves specialised tools and high-quality products which come with a cost. If a Detailer’s prices seem too good to be true, they might be cutting corners on materials or time spent on your car. A quote given without seeing your car or understanding its specific needs should also raise concerns. Remember, quality detailing is an investment in your vehicle’s longevity and appearance. What’s your experience been?

Great walkthrough of how Atlas can help you solve real engineering and manufacturing problems!
Advanced Manufacturing Specialist • Metals | Plastics | Electronics • Helping OEMs optimize part design, material, and process • 🏥🏭⚛️🛡️🚀🛰️
Coolest thing I've seen lately in manufacturing / hard-tech. Every design engineer in my network should know about Lumafield's Atlas. Props to Eduardo Torrealba & Co.
