Technology is constantly changing the landscape of sales and marketing. However for consultants it’s a great opportunity to lead the way and improve integrations through the lead lifecycle. When you take the time to understand the tech stacks and AI components you offer a skill that most companies don’t have the time to figure out. It’s an incredible time for operations and the tools are limitless!

With all the talk about AI taking sales jobs, I have to be honest. I'm incredibly optimistic about the future of sales and sales careers. I've worn a lot of hats in my career outside of selling. I've been a founder, product designer, I've done various marketing roles - and I gotta tell ya... Sales tech has been WAY behind some of the tools marketers and designers have had for years. AI Is helping sellers get on a level playing field tech-wise. Sellers will have more control than ever before. Sellers will reach more buyers than ever before. And sellers will get to focus on what they are great at, as opposed to focusing on all the other nonsense that is required to get the job done.

I've never held a formal tech sales role, but created $1m of new pipeline last week. It was without email blasting a thousand people per day, and certainly don't run 1,000 people/day in a sequence either. It was generated from a LinkedIn post, a LinkedIn comment, sending 5-10 voice notes daily on LinkedIn, and the smartest sequencing technology to ever exist. My sequence uses behavior-based rules to only follow up with people who open or click, and different emails or tasks triggered depending on if it's a click vs. open (and even how many times they do it). If someone doesn't open my first email in a week, the sequence ends for that person. This lets me reach out to more net new people daily without hurting my domain. I get to double down people who I know are engaging, and stop myself from chasing people who just don't care. This year has shifted my sales journey! ���� World used to give us a little bit more chance to adapt, but now it is moving fast AF 🏃 and also getting faster. However, at this speed, I've discovered new ways to solve problems for clients, reach potential ones, and nurture existing relationships with partners like never before. Remember 2007? I was selling cell phone plans, and the dial-in phone I used to call prospects was not much different from the one I was selling in the store. Today, that memory is history!📞➡️📱 I don’t have kids, but as I was writing that paragraph, I felt like a grandpa sharing it! 👴 The tools at our disposal are incredible and improving daily. But what's new to all of us is the adaptation required to maximize technology's use. Selling ASAP's talent advice has taught me the importance of adapting to technology without losing the human touch. It's a balance that's hard but essential. 💻 🛠️ Today's experience is unlike any other change we've seen before. That's why it's vital to recognize the skills needed to leverage the unbelievable reduction in the "cost of expertise" that AI offers. 💡 Here are my takeaways from this constant discovery journey: Solving Problems: Answering questions using the most updated information (like Chat GPT or Bard). Understanding Data: Analyzing complex data points relevant to my industry or interest. Human Touch: Processing information and ALWAYS adding the human/personal touch (still irreplaceable). 👋 Childlike Curiosity: Keeping the curiosity of a 5-year-old unwrapping gifts on Christmas time. 🎁 I wanted to share that I think that it's an incredible time to be in sales! Why hiring an agency is 10x better than an SDR Sales are getting more complex and technical. SDRs that are not learning how to use AI will fall behind. AI is getting better at an insane pace. Many arguments against using it are about to be proven wrong in the next couple of years. This is a massive opportunity for people ready to upskill and adapt to the new way of generating pipeline.

Please - please - PLEASE - make buying your solution easy. I requested a demo of a product... and got sent to an SDR for a 15 minute phone call. First off (and I love SDRs, I've led them since before they were called SDRs), don't make them qualify your inbound leads. Some folks don't think SDRs should touch inbound leads at all. Personally, I don't mind, but get the lead and get them set up with an AE. Quick. Want to throw in 2-3 short qualifying questions that'll help the AE prep? Sure. Fine. However, I want less touches, not more. You aren't doing yourself any favours by adding steps. The kicker? I booked the 15 minute call and got an email from the SDR right at the top of the hour saying "I can't find your number to call you" A) Be prepared B) ... it was in the calendar invite 🤦♂️ this is why they say AI is going to take our jobs.
