Do you think Soccer will take over and become America's #1 Sport? 🤔 It already is for the rest of the world with an estimated fan base of 3.5B. The sudden rise in popularity for the United States is contributed by many factors... • The continued expansion of teams in the MLS and signing of international legends to Major League Soccer like Lionel Messi. • Recent success and runs within the US National Teams, both the USMNT & USWNT. • I'm a die-hard NFL fan, but the rise of CTE in American Football and other very contact sports is undeniable. Forcing parents to remove youth from these types of sports. • The increase of access to teams, clubs, and academies encouraging younger player development and creating pathways similar to other sports. • Unlike some other sports where pace of play has been an ongoing issue, there are no breaks or ads in soccer other than at half-time. Examples of this include: The addition of a pitch-clock in the MLB and the constant commercials between every timeout and change of play in the NFL. Thoughts? A brilliant idea involving pickleball! Online shopping is putting an unprecedented amount of pressure on brick and mortar retail. Retailers need to start getting creative if they want to stay in business. This idea is rough but it is a brilliant idea. It merges retail with recreation/entertainment. It will bring people to locations like this. It will stimulate more business. Local governments may be able to play a role too. Maybe some investment in the equipment? Some tweaking of parking restrictions? Some staffing assistance? Could be a win-win. Anyone in Greenville been looking for some space to rent? We're in the process of selling Chapel, but it may be a very long closing timeline. So we might as well make use of the 35,000 ft² and have some fun in the meantime. Storage would be the easiest thing to do, and I'm open to it. But it's also the most boring thing we could do, so here are some other ideas if someone wants to come in and do something along these lines. We could work out either a very low monthly rent or a revenue share: 1. Indoor soccer training - put some turf down and some nets up, voila! 2. Skate park - build some ramps, charge $10/day to skate/scooter 3. Events - you could throw an epic capture the flag or airsoft battle birthday party here. 4. Pop-up shops - use it as a home-base for your food truck (bonus points if you make breakfast tacos), set up shop to sell your crafts or furniture or what-have-you 5.
