🚀 Embracing Personal Growth: Insights for Aspiring Leaders 🚀 In my journey towards becoming a better leader, I stumbled upon this insightful article by Cian McEnroe and David Rock. It's a great overview of the roadmap ahead for anyone invested in personal growth and striving to make a positive impact on their teams and organizations. 🎯 Focus on the Future 🎯 As leaders, we must constantly scan for what's next and ensure our teams are prepared. However, our brains evolved to value the immediate and short-term future, making it challenging to think long-term. But fear not, research suggests that thinking about the future is a learnable skill. I plan to block off time each month to map out a "future state" for my team, guiding us towards success in the next six months. 🤝 Your People Are Everything 🤝 Balancing business strategy with connecting and motivating our people can be a juggling act. Neuroimaging studies show a seesaw effect between goal focus and people focus in our brains. The key is finding the right balance. I aim to be more intentional about sending signals to my team that they're cared for and valued, fostering a harmonious environment where both technical competence and personability thrive. 💡 Drive Realistic Results 💡 As we perceive ourselves to be more powerful, we become more optimistic and visionary. While this has its merits, it can lead to unrealistic expectations and disconnect with our team's daily reality. I'll counteract this tendency by seeking other perspectives, staying realistic about the present, and setting people-focused goals aligned with the welfare of others. One aspect I would add to becoming a good leader is fostering a culture of continuous learning within our teams. Encouraging curiosity and being open to new ideas can lead to breakthrough innovations and collective growth. 🌟 I'm excited to embrace these insights and further develop my leadership skills. Let's connect and share our insights on leadership and personal growth! Looking forward to learning from each other in the dynamic healthcare industry and beyond. #PersonalGrowth #LeadershipJourney #ContinuousImprovement #EmpathyMatters #FutureFocused #TeamMotivation #LeadershipSkills #InsightsForSuccess

We are told that leaders need to be flawless. That one person needs to excel in all the critical areas of leadership. In reality, an effective leader is one who understands her own strengths and limitations, surrounding herself with a team that can work together to guide effectively. This Harvard Business Review article does a great job of describing 4 areas that are core to effective leadership: Sensemaking: Understanding the context in which your organization and it's people operate. Relating: Building relationships across organizations. Visioning: Creating a compelling vision of the future. Inventing: Developing new ways to achieve the vision. Your job is not to master all 4 areas, it is recognize your strengths, double down on them, and surround yourself with leaders who have mastered the other areas. #leadership #coaching #leadershipdevelopment https://lnkd.in/emWCpZZp
