An Interesting Experience Visiting the International Exhibition
A few weeks ago, I accompanied my company's CEO to visit the International Stone Exhibition in Tehran.
At almost every booth we visited, the booth attendants were incredibly welcoming and polite, emphasizing the potential for collaboration between our two companies.
Everywhere we went, they would say, "Call me after the exhibition so I can send you these items," or "Let's stay in touch in this way or that."
Additionally, considering the nature of the exhibition and the industry it represented, a significant and substantial investment had been made by all the booths.
Now, two weeks after the exhibition's conclusion, when you call some of the booth attendants, some don't even answer; others say, "Send me a message on WhatsApp so we can do this or that," but you see that days have passed, and the person hasn't even read your message; and still, others would take down the names and addresses of individuals on the spot, but there was no follow-up call or any form of communication whatsoever.
To be fair, many of them do both, call after the exhibition and are completely responsive, and kudos to them.
It's strange.
What's strange is that someone would invest so much money, time, and effort into their booth, but then seem to have no regard for the outcome.
I'm not sure if the goal is to increase customers and partners, but attending an exhibition like this is unlikely to attract new customers or partners.
And if the goal is brand building, again, when your potential clients realize how disorganized your company is, it will damage your brand reputation.
In conclusion, I believe we should either not take part in exhibitions or, if we do, conduct ourselves appropriately, focus on the results, and make sure our participation is worthwhile.
