The new regulations issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provide guidance on how healthcare providers and insurers should comply with Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. This section prohibits discrimination in healthcare based on certain characteristics such as race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. The regulations aim to ensure that all individuals have equal access to healthcare services and are not treated unfairly because of these protected characteristics. They seek to promote fairness in healthcare and eliminate barriers to care for vulnerable populations. 🌏 Humanity #EqualityinHealthcare #FairnessinHealthcare #nodiscrimination https://lnkd.in/eahci397

Today I am going to give small information about the One of the important factor when you are deciding to move to new country ie Healthcare System. Finland offers comprehensive healthcare services for immigrants, ensuring universal access to medical care. Immigrants need to register for the healthcare system, obtain health insurance, and receive a personal identity code. Primary healthcare services, including general practitioners and preventive care, are readily available. Access to specialized care, emergency services, mental health support, and dental care is also provided. The system emphasizes preventive measures, maternal and child health services, and promotes a culturally sensitive environment. Immigrants enjoy patient rights, language support, and integration of health and social services, fostering a holistic approach to well-being within the Finnish healthcare system. A big thank you to Senator Dr. Tom Clonan for highlighting in the Seanad the issue of the HSE blocking the use of personal budgets and direct payments, for people who want to source and manage their own support. This is even in cases where the HSE and their approved corporate providers can't provide support! The HSE seem to take the view, there is less risk in leaving people without any support, than trusting them to source and manage their own support where appropriate. They also seem intent on protecting the cosy status quo of outsourcing home care to a limited list of approved corporate providers, turning a blind eye to the huge leakage of the home care budget to corporate overheads and profits rather than getting funds into carer's pockets where they will have most effect on quality and capacity. People's needs and situations are incredibly varied and as such, the choices available to them for their support should be varied as well and not limited to the current one size fits all system. At Home Care Direct we see every day the struggle and noise families have to make to convince the HSE to allow them use a service like ours to source and manage their own support with well paid and motivated local carers and PAs on our platform. This is despite direction from Minister Rabbitte's team, that Home Care Direct should be viewed as an enabler and facilitator for people wanting to go down the personal budget and direct payment route, to self-manage their support in a safe and tax compliant manner. If home care care is to play a fuller role in our health sector, we need to expand our view of what home care is and how it can be provided. Mary Butler TD Anne Rabbitte T.D. Stay informed! Information is power!
“This April, the government finalized a lot of federal rules that matter to our community. Federal rules are made by the executive branch to make sure people and groups follow laws. Some of the rules finalized this month make it easier to get and keep Medicaid, SSI, and other benefits. Others make sure that the services and supports that we get are useful and will help us. These are both important ways to make sure that disabled people are able to use the programs that let us live in our communities. Some of these rules also say what the government, hospitals, or other people need to do to respect our rights and not discriminate against us. This helps make sure that people with disabilities’ rights are protected wherever we go. Here is a look at some of the important rules that have been finalized this month.” https://lnkd.in/gCZADZU7
