At Paragon Films, safety is our top priority all year round. That's why we were thrilled to participate in National Safety Month with the National Safety Council this June! We shared essential tips with our team to ensure their safety not just at work, but also at home. Our employees are our most valuable asset, and their well-being is paramount. To celebrate National Safety Month, we designated June 18th as Go Green for Safety Day at Paragon Films. We encourage everyone to prioritize safety in all aspects of their lives. And / Or You know the Disney + series Andor was a great lesson in survival and starting a revolution. As such, ultimately safety has many approaches and the first step should be an “and” approach, not an “or.” Like one “or” the other. Like root cause analysis “and” fault tree analysis. Like HOP “and” BBS Like Safety 1 “and” Safety 2 There are quite a few of us who believe in the “Or” discussion and the “and” gets tossed out with the bathwater. We should all be interested in what one another is doing because we all might have a best practice in an approach that others have already shut the door to. Shutting the do”or” is an “or” process.

A STORK – A FORK – A BAG and a FLAG The call came in June of last year. “ Our accident rate is out of control. Can you help us ? “ Our first face to face meeting identified that Process, Production and Profits had become such a focus that equipment maintenance, hazard elimination and employee well being had simply became a cost of doing business. We needed to get back to the basics. What would it take to truly protect the employees and ensure a safe workplace? My input - "creating a safe workplace is like raising a child. It won’t be easy, it will take work and time and require constant change." The rebirth of a safety culture. A STORK – A FORK – A BAG The leadership team met twice weekly to create a plan and with each action item a STORK was secretly placed somewhere in the plant. The arrival of the storks raised a ton of questions. “ who's expecting ?” More ideas and more storks over the coming weeks and then a big announcement. “ PLEASE JOIN US IN CELEBRATION” Time for a baby a baby shower ! As employees entered the lunchroom they were given a fork. No plate or explanation just a fork. Then it was time for the games to begin Teams were selected. First game – relay race. Place a raw egg on your fork and carry it to your team mate located on the other end of the room. Can't touch the egg once it’s placed on the fork and if you drop it, your team is out. Every team failed ! Next game is the same as the first, but this time teams can use tape to hold the egg on the fork. Every Team was successful ! Next game – Use your fork to raise a box weighing 5 pounds from the floor and place it on a table. Working alone, no one was successful. But working as a team EVERY TEAM WAS SUCCESSUL. Teamwork ! CAKE for everyone ! The big reveal – A REBIRTH our safety effort. Creating a safe Workplace is like raising a child. It won’t be easy, It will take a lot of work, it will require change and it will take time. A journey requires packing a diaper bag. A BAG Employees were asked to write down the known workplace hazards in their area and place them in a diaper bag. The commitment from Leadership. Every hazard will be risk ranked by the plant safety committee and resources applied to eliminate or control the hazard. The big commitment – every hazard Identified will eliminated or controlled within 30 days or we will no longer perform that job. No exceptions. Change ( think dirty diaper) isn’t easy, but it's required, and everyone is happier when it done. 6 months old !! A FLAG. The Safety culture is growing and getting stronger. Yesterday, employees were welcomed to the plant with a huge banner hanging at the entrance proclaiming 422 Hazards eliminated and 30 DAYS WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. The REBIRTH OF SAFETY - A Stork – A Fork – A Bag – A Flag. As a proud “uncle” of this rebirth of safety , I can’t wait to see what’s next as this amazing team grows, develops and matures. #rebirthofsafety #caring #safetyleadership

Movie comedies often use humor to highlight important safety principles like Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO). While they may exaggerate situations for laughs, the underlying message is clear: LOTO is not just a set of rules; it's a LIFE-SAVING PRINCIPLE. Just as characters in these comedies go to great lengths to ensure safety in hilarious ways, real-life workers must take LOTO seriously to prevent accidents and protect lives in the workplace. #loto #lifesavingprinciple

#Patient #safety & #QI Topic - 4 Importance of team work and departmental collaboration for Quality improvement: "Imagine Quality as the rope that ties all the departments together in a tug-of-war game. Each department, like Marketing and Operations, represents a team member holding onto that rope. If one department lets go, it can throw off the balance and impact the whole organization. When all departments work together and support Quality, it's like a well-coordinated tug-of-war team. They can overcome challenges and achieve success for the entire organization. Remember, teamwork and collaboration are key to a strong and successful outcome for everyone involved. #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #CollaborationIsKey"
