When I was first promoted to a role where I managed a team, I didn’t know much about how to manage people! The one thing I was certain of was that I wanted to treat people the way I would want to be treated, but after that, I learned a lot by trial and error – maybe more error than trial! People in the Access to Work space, have you noticed fewer people being awarded support workers? I’ve definitely noticed a shift when picking up enquiries following an award! It’s very concerning and will mean more clients needing to ask for it to be looked at again. I’ve supported a few clients with the SWROT forms so ATW can reconsider the needs. These are not clients who we supported with the application process so it could be that the original application lacked the details and specifics. Be very clear and detailed in your application if you’re asking for a support worker and remember it must be linked to your work struggles- ALWAYS link it back to work! We are here to help if you would like help to apply or want to submit further information to ATW to get a support worker. I’m delighted that when we have completed SWROT on clients behalf, we have been successful in getting the extra support they need 🙌🏼 *SWROT is support worker record of tasks. I've shared versions of this 4x in the last few weeks privately. It's my personal take only. I'm sharing here b/c 50strong provides NO COST outreach to any DoD-authorized SkillBridge partner (that wants to collaborate w/ us) & we've highlighted this for quite some time. But lately, I have had to make some personal decisions based on: 1) what I *think* is best for service members 2) what I *think* is best to comply w/ civilian labor compliance 3) what I *think* is best to help commands trust other stakeholders 4) what I *think* is best for longevity of the #DoDSkillBridge program I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct & I'm not the "SkillBridge police" - but I am trusting my gut for how 50strong should best support as the landscape evolves. ps - I'm open to feedback. If I've learned one thing about #DoDSkillBridge, it's that we're all learning everyday. #VeteranEmployment

Important discussion in the comments in regard to labor compliance! If you have a Skillbridge program please read and verify. I am 100% pro Skillbridge and want to ensure that those with these great programs are complaint so they do not get in legal hot water.
