All throughout February, our Black Excellence Network (ERG) shared a series of remarkable contributions by black inventors whose innovations are not only still used today, but have directly contributed to our products and day-to-day business operations. The contributions and struggles of the black community can guide initiatives to address the systemic inequalities today and promote a society that values diversity, equity, and justice. As Black History Month comes to a close, we invite you all to celebrate and learn with us by reading this thoughtful series below-

February is Black History Month, an annual celebration of the many contributions and achievements of Black and African American people in the United States. We recognize and uplift those who are multiply marginalized, including Black individuals with disabilities. There have been many Black leaders throughout history, like Harriet Tubman and Audre Lorde, whose disabilities have shaped their experiences and contributions. The team at Black Digital has been working hard to launch our first #BlackHistoryMonth toolkit. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/edpMnfV6. While February is dedicated to honoring Black people's sacrifices and significant achievements, one month alone cannot nearly encompass their historic accomplishments and tribulations. We will update the page throughout the month with creative and messaging assets for organizations and individuals looking to thoughtfully join the celebration. Featured prominently in our Black History Month logo is the Black Star. It’s non-symmetrical make-up represents the diversity and perfect imperfections that make our culture unique. The stripes are synonymous with the American flag, but a Pan-African-inspired palette pays homage to our ancestors. This intersection of symbols signifies the impact of Black culture and ideology on the country today. Black History is American History. Join us as we celebrate Black culture, Black leadership, and, most importantly, Black joy. Always proud of the team: Creative: Lorenzo Gordon Miles Carney Annie-Dina Théodore Web: Willie Brown Content & Research: Dominique W. Talia Sabbath Liesel Allen

Today is the first day of Black History Month 2024. This month represents an amplified opportunity for all people to honor, celebrate and reflect upon the achievements, struggles, accomplishments, experiences and lives of Black Americans, past and present. Today, as we work towards a society that is more just, equitable, and historically aware, I encourage each of us to give thanks for and uplift the Black Americans who we have learned from, worked with, been mentored by, been supported by, done business with, partnered with, and loved. We are also challenged to redouble our efforts to have the history, story and achievements of Black Americans treated as the essential American history that it is… core to who we have been, an essential part of who we are today, and an essential element of who we shall be in the future as Americans. #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory #BlackLivesMatter #CelebrateBlackExcellence

As Black History Month draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the profound impact it has had on our collective consciousness. This month serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience, strength, and immeasurable contributions of Black individuals throughout history. It's a time to honor the trailblazers who fought tirelessly for justice, equality, and freedom in the face of adversity and oppression. From activists and artists to scientists and leaders, their legacies continue to inspire generations, reshaping the narrative of our shared history and shaping a more inclusive future. As we bid farewell to Black History Month, let us carry forward the spirit of recognition, appreciation, and celebration beyond the confines of these 29 days (shoutout to leap year). Let us commit ourselves to ongoing education, empathy, and allyship in the fight against systemic racism and injustice. May we amplify Black voices, support Black-owned businesses, and champion diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our lives. By acknowledging the past, we honor the present, and pave the way for a brighter, more equitable tomorrow for all.
