The Starfish Story tells of a child walking along a beach after a terrible storm which washed up thousands of starfish. The child is throwing them back into the water one by one. Then along comes an old man who admonishes the child that they can’t save them all.. he can’t really make a difference. So why is he bothering? The boy picks up another starfish and threw it back into the sea. Smiling, he then turned and told the man, “I made a difference to that one!”. The University of Georgia is one of five universities selected by the National Pork Board for a multi-year initiative called the Real Pork Trust Consortium. This collaboration seeks to address consumer questions and concerns related to the pork industry, by combining exceptional talent from multiple land-grant universities. CAES will play a crucial role in leading the consortium's science communication efforts and research. Professor Alexa Lamm from our Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication (ALEC) will spearhead efforts to provide solid, science-backed answers to consumer questions about pork and pork production.
