An ovoo is a shrine in Mongolian folk religious practice. These little hils or mounds usually simply consist of a mound of stones, and most usually have a piece of wood stuck into them. Ovoos are most often erected on a high area relative to its immediate environment. When traveling through Mongolia, it is the custom to stop and circle an ovoo three times, always in a clockwise fashion, as the belief is that this will bring good fortune to your journey. Usually, rocks are then also picked up from the ground and added to the pile, and one may leave offerings in the form of money, sweets, milk, or vodka. However, if you are in a hurry while traveling and does not have time to stop for the ritual, honking your horn three times while passing by will also suffice! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Renedian Motorcycle Tours. Have you ever dreamed of exploring Machu Picchu in Peru? 👀 I’m sure it’s crossed your mind at least once – it certainly has for me (Anne)! 🤩 But have you considered embarking on a 7-day trek along the lesser-known ancient footpath to the lost city of the Incas: The Salkantay Inca Trail? Chances are, you didn't even know it existed – I certainly didn't until recently! 🤭 In communicating sustainable travel, storytelling emerges as a powerful tool. It’s a vital strategy for effectively communicating the importance of sustainability in a way that resonates and inspires your audience. Meet one of our partners, GLP Films, a leading agency in sustainable storytelling. They excel in bringing impactful narratives to life. 📹 One campaign that stood out to me is their Salkantay Inca Trail campaign It was developed to support the signature adventure trek of Mountain Lodges of Perú. This lesser-known path offers a unique and authentic journey to the heart of the Incas' lost city. While the popular routes are often crowded, GLP Films beautifully highlights the benefits of the alternative Salkantay Inca Trail. Imagine the awe-inspiring majesty of untouched mountains and rich cultural history, with hardly any other travellers in sight. 🦙🌿 The power of storytelling comes alive in their campaign, inspiring travellers and getting them excited to experience this adventure as well. I know I am, are you? Do you already use storytelling to communicate your sustainability practices? // #goodtourism #futureoftourism #storytelling #travelbusiness #sustainabletourism #responsibletravel #communicationstrategy

Dragon Boat Festival On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year, we Chinese celebrate an ancient and culturally rich festival - the Dragon Boat Festival. This festival is full of stories, history and traditions. Today, let's take a closer look at the rich culture and traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival. The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Loong Boat Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival that is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year. There are multiple versions of the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, the most well-known of which is to commemorate the ancient Chu poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan is an important cultural figure of our Chinese people, and his noble character, honesty and patriotism are deeply admired by us Chinese. His poem "Li Sao" is still a treasure of Chinese literature. Traditional activities to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival include dragon boat racing and making and eating rice dumplings. The dragon boat race symbolizes the legend of people racing to save Qu Yuan, and it embodies teamwork and determination to overcome difficulties. The rice dumplings, on the other hand, symbolize the story of people throwing themselves into the water to stop fish and shrimp from biting Qu Yuan's body, and it shows people's loyalty and love. If you have any interest in Chinese ancient holidays, just come to me. I would like to share the story with you. lity@lyzhili.com

Mi Camino empieza / My Camino begins! I'm in Bilbao, prepping for a couple days before heading out on foot. Here's my kit. 😊 I'll share more about the Camino itself once I'm officially walking, but for today, a question that's often asked: What's up with the scallop shell? A scallop shell (or "concha" in Spanish) tied to my pack signifies that I am not a tourist, but rather a pilgrim. The shell's history is surrounded by myth and legend. Depending on what you read and with whom you speak, you may hear that it's a kind of medieval souvenir and proof that you did the walk. Way-back-when, pilgrims would take a shell when they arrived in Santiago (scallop shells are typically found along the Galician coast). Others say it was a practical way of drinking water from streams on the way home. It was also reportedly part of one of the miracles of St. James (a knight fell into the sea on his horse and was emerged from his grave covered in shells). Today the Camino retains religious significance for some pilgrims, though in my experience, for most pilgrims it's a spiritual journey with broad, individual interpretations of what "spiritual" means. Whether you're trying to slow down, move on from a relationship, overcome grief, or simply have time to reconnect with yourself... all of these (and *many* more) are reasons I've encountered on the path. My favorite Camino saying: No corras que a donde tienes que llegar es a tí mismo / Don't run where you have to get to is to yourself. Oh so ready to walk. 👣 #caminodesantiago #longwalks #journey #selfawareness #letgo #runslower #gratitude #walking #hiking #spain
