We love a bit of healthy competition here at M.A.J! Here are some photos from one of our (many) annual office activities! Our firm work extremely hard every day, so it's only fair they all get rewarded with a bit of cake from time to time! Can you guess who won?? 🤗🍰 #officebakeoff #officecompetitions #workbalance #motordefencesolicitors #teamwork #officeactivities #lawyersoflinkedin

This morning I did something different. I packed up my laptop, wrapped myself up in my cosy coat and hat, and walked five minutes to go and work in the new coworking space in my little Alpine town. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those people who dislike working from home, or indeed, feel lonely working alone. In fact, I have spent most of my 30's and 40's trying to avoid working in an office 🤷♀️ I have lots of contact with my clients and I’m a member of various networking groups, where I can co-work virtually, enjoy virtual coffee breaks with others etc. Sure, I enjoy working in cafes and work spaces when I’m on the move, but why would I leave my warm and comfy home office to go and work somewhere five minutes up the road? The last time I toyed with the idea of working from somewhere else occasionally was pre-Covid…in fact, not long before the Covid pandemic first hit France. My friend and I had decided that one day a week, we’d go and work in a local cafe/bar. We’d asked the owner, they were cool with it…and then a week or two later, we were all locked up in our own homes wondering what the hell had hit us. But it’s good to try new things…and do you know what? I enjoyed it…I felt focused…I felt part of something bigger…not to mention the fast wifi and a Nespresso machine! It motivated me to hear others beavering away at the same time as me…I chatted to a co-worker who was working through a challenging work problem and who may have just felt slightly better telling me a bit about it. While I will still be working mostly from home, I will definitely be changing things up every now and then with a day at our local coworking space...if you haven't tried coworking before, I highly recommend it! #changethingsup #coworking #smallbusiness #adminsupport #virtualassistant #heartcentredVA

A very clever message; I might steal it. Office extroverts don’t have it easy either. We are extremely sensitive people. This is why we feel the need to talk to release emotions, not only for ourselves but also for those around us. Amazing to be both! #cultivatingconnections #diversityandinclusion #workenvironment

Helping Gloucestershire's business leaders achieve workplace wellbeing accreditation, empowering healthier, happier, and more productive workplaces!
Warning: potential minefield ahead 🚩🚩🚩 I know it’s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, but I wanted to talk about something a bit “workplacey” seeing as it had popped into my consciousness recently. 💭 Let’s get a few things out on the table first: 1️⃣ I’m a big sports fan and, due to this, I regularly listen to talkSPORT. I don’t normally listen during the day (I’d get way too distracted), so what I normally do is get the kids to bed and then rewatch the “best bits” on YouTube whilst doing the dishes. 🍽️ 2️⃣ My favourite show on there is White & Jordan. Some love him, some hate him, but I really enjoy listening to Simon Jordan (formal Crystal Palace owner, for those that aren’t aware). Yes, he has strong opinions, as a lot of successful people do. But I think he speaks a lot of sense… In MOST cases. So how the hell is this workplacey, I hear you ask? 🤔 Well, the other night I was doing some washing up and the video below came on (you may want to hold onto something hearing about my exciting, fast-paced lifestyle). 🏎️ I don’t know the exact ins and outs, but it looks like Man Utd employees will be forced back to the office in due course. If that’s how they chose to run their business, fine, this isn’t a critique on that directly or the benefits of either way of working. But it was the comments and narrative that really irked me: 👉 “If you’re working from home, you’re just skiving” 👉 “It’s effectively time off” 👉 “Lazy scrotes” Even the title: “… APPLAUDS…. ordering staff back to the office”. To me, it glorifies or, at the very least, validates the draconian approach that has been taken here. (I don’t know if these were intended as click bait or not, but it got me clicking, that’s for sure!). Now, I will freely admit there are some times that working in an office will produce a number of benefits. 🏢 I actually find I’m more productive in the office because there are less distractions for me. But many of the same and/or other benefits have been shown with WFH, too. 🏡 I think the reason it bothered me so much was that it was presented in a sweeping statement that one is better than the other (and I’ve seen this the other way, too). John Whitson-Russell hit the nail on the head with this in a recent chat we had: people will work best when given the autonomy to chose how they will do so. If that’s in the office (I actually fall into this camp most of the time), great. 👍 If that’s at home, also great. 👍 To summarise this thread of absolute carnage; I we need to embrace cultures where we trust our teams to work how they chose is best for them, and give them the flexibility to do so. As long as the work is done, that’s what matters, right? Really keen to hear other views on this, pop them down below.👇 https://lnkd.in/eCfC98hy

There's a tradition we hold dear – our monthly same page meeting. It's the time when we (Machaela and Vivian) come together to align goals, synchronize efforts, and foster a sense of unity that propels us forward. Usually, we gather off-site, in what we call "our room" at the Chamber – we're just waiting for keys to the building. Getting off-site stops us from "working on work stuff." #socialmedia #socialmediamarketing #socialmediaexpert #socialmediatipsandtricks #loveyourworkwedo #loveyourworkinglife

What helps you focus? For me, it's writing down my top 3 priorities each day, keeping my workspace neat (organized office=organized mind), and having something uplifting nearby like fresh flowers or a warm cup of tea. #focus #findingfocus #productivity
