It's National Reconciliation Week, and now more than ever we need to open (or re-open), and nourish connections between First Nations Peoples and multicultural communities. Roads to Reconciliation: Activating Multicultural Communities are exactly one of the innovative and impactful programs that does this
If a photo can share a thousand words, this photo certainly does that when it comes to describing the extensive work carried out across the pilot year of Roads to Reconciliation: Activating Multicultural Communities. “Now more than ever”, our work in twenty local government areas across Victoria has been needed to bring together multicultural community leaders, with local governments, and First Nations leaders… Our first year on the road was wrapped up with a Community Summit brought to you by the National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice and delivered in partnership with Reconciliation Victoria and supported by the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria. Here’s looking forward to getting support for year 2… Photo: Dr Judy Tang - Commissioner, and Community Fellowship recipient, Commissioner & Deputy Chairperson - Yoorrook Justice Commission - Sue-Anne Hunter, and Darebin City Council - Cr. Emily Dimitriadis.

Social and community participation is important because it can: Help you feel included and connected to others. Give you opportunities to build relationships with friends. Grow your social networks and help you feel more included. Everybody needs a champion and good role models who are non-judgemental. Volunteering in the. community helps Improve citizens' knowledge and skills in problems. This journey, is teaching me to be respectful, use active listening and good communication skills. Greater community knowledge allows me to see multiple sides of the problem and opportunities especially when working with women and young people. #domesticfamilyandsexualharassment, #diversityequityandinclusion #youthrisk Thanks OACWA Inc for recognising those who are making an impact in the community👏

The arts are fundamental to our humanity. They ennoble and inspire us—fostering creativity, empathy, and beauty. The arts also strengthen our communities socially, educationally, and economically. In Massachusetts, arts and culture is a $27.2 billion industry—4.2% of the state economy—and supports 135,181 jobs (bigger than construction, education, and transportation). The arts accelerate economic recovery: a growth in arts employment has a positive and causal effect on overall employment (U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis). Springfield’s nonprofit arts industry alone generates $82.4 million in economic activity annually—spending by organizations and their audiences—which supports 1,483 jobs and generates $15.3 million in local, state, and federal government revenue (Americans for the Arts AEP6 study) Randy Cohen MASSCreative Mass Cultural Council Tiffany Allecia M.Ed.

I couldn't be more grateful for how everything is aligning. My deep passion for the early stage is now funneled into two ways. On the one hand, The Becoming Self is a community for builders. A collective of founders, creatives, entrepreneurs, artists, writers, and even 9-5 workers, all connecting and holding themselves accountable while building together to become the person they aspire to be (myself included). On the other hand, Make My Deck is the result of over 3 years in a startup and my involvement in multiple ventures in the last 5 years. Staying close to founders in the crucial early moments of their company and deploying my skills in design, strategy, and accumulated experience in the space. If you're starting out, and lack clarity, just know that you can only connect the dots by looking back. So just keep walking until you find your place. And if you feel stuck, let's have a conversation :)
Yesterday we had our weekly accountability call. It was a great time to see so many of the faces inside the community and realize the mix of great creatives we have inside. From artists 🎨 to founders 💡. From Europe 🇪🇺 to the United States 🇺🇸. All connecting and building together :)
