I once was told that one should not make a hiring decision by comparing candidates to one-another. That's a lovely sentiment but that's not how human brains work. Everything is a comparison. I like blue better than brown. I like my husband better than any of the other boyfriends I had. I like cilantro better than basil (pshaw! on all you cilantro haters!)...We meet with a candidate and think they are quite good. A definite in the mix. Then we meet with another candidate and they check ALL the boxes. Are we comparing the candidates? 100% and anyone who says we are not, is lying to themselves. #hiring
