We are happy to share the programme for our ShippingLab conference and to announce that more than 100 industry professionals have already signed up our free-of-charge conference, but we have room for more, so please feel welcome to share the invitation and the programme with others in your network. The conference is held at DTU - Technical University of Denmark on August 30. Registration is necessary by sending an email to Magnus Gary at mg@shippinglab.dk. At the conference we will present learnings and results from the work within Decarbonization, Autonomy and Digital Ship Operations, which were conducted by more than 40 partners in more than 20 projects. We will also present the themes and activities we are going to focus on going forward. Further, we are hosting panel sessions, where industry experts discuss challenges and possible ways forward within decarbonization, autonomy and digital ship operations, Finally, we are happy to announce that we will be having a keynote delivered by the Secretary General from WaterborneTP, Jaap Gebraad, which is a key organisation within research and development opportunities within the EU. Digitalization is a crucial aspect of transitioning to a more sustainable future. We are proud to announce that we are proposing and managing a new digitalization project. We are collaborating with CAISR (by Högskolan i Halmstad) and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden intending to leverage data-based digital twins to promote sustainability in commercial marine operations. By combining the strengths of various stakeholders in the market, we can effectively work towards a more sustainable future. In addition to CAISR and RISE, we are partnering with Trafikverket, Quokka AB, Erik Thun Group, Stena Line, and Profjord AB. Through the application of advanced technology and collaborative efforts, we are laying the groundwork for efficient, sensor-free vessel management to reach our 2030 sustainability goals. #Sustainability #Maritime #iHelm #Cetasol #SustainabilityTogether #DigitalTwin #Digitalization

We have the great pleasure to announce that our COMET-K1 project “𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀” will be funded by the FFG Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH and the Austrian federal provinces of Styria via Steirische Wirtschaftsförderung SFG, Upper Austria and Vorarlberg for a further four-years funding period from 2025 to 2028. The declared goals are to contribute to the solution to current global problems related to the production, application and disposal of polymer-based products and to provide answers with high socio-economic impacts. With its active role in the circularity and sustainability of polymers, our consortium of 18 scientific and 40 company partners will increase its contributions to both the UN Sustainability Goals and the Green New Deal for Europe. Therefore, 16 individual projects with a total volume of 22.6 million euros were jointly defined in an ambitious research programme. #PCCL #COMET #funding #research #innovation #greenfuture #polymers

Discovery-oriented Innovation Policies Presented at #EUSpri2024 in this paper developed by Ramojus Reimeris and myself, we argue that some regions in Europe are attempting to implement transformative challenge oriented innovation policies. In this approach they have two types of discovery: Problem-discovery - going from broad global challenges to regional specific place-based agendas. System-discovery - knowing your regional eco-systems, who-is-who, who is already doing what. Are there "pockets of the future found in the present" Regions perceive their industrial innovation challenges as complex but format their policies as "moonshots" fuelled by Smart Specialisation Strategies and access to ERDF funding. Implementing these industrial strategies remains an "experimental" open process of discovery often subject to "mission-drifting" on a longer term. The paper will be published and available soon. #iseg #ulisboa #TIPC Philippe Larrue Dimitrios Pontikakis Carolina Haddad Iacopo Gronchi Bianca Cavicchi Francesco Cappellano Arnault Morisson Américo Veloso Bento Luiz Lopes Michal Miedzinski Angela Sarcina Manuel Gonzalez Evangelista Luisa Henriques Alexandra Vilela Joao Mendes Borga António Ramos Sandra Primitivo Pedro Dominguinhos Jacek Walendowski António Bob Santos Kieron Flanagan Elvira Uyarra Alejandra (Sandra) Boni Jordi Molas-Gallart Victoria Shaw
