Here is an interesting take on people and hiring lessons from a straight shooting LinkedIn influencer. In this post he highlights how "successful owners have given their employees the framework on which to make decisions" and stresses the need to "give them the tools and stop making them guess". It is reflections like this that fuels my mission helping business owners implement a complete system (EOS), which develops a framework for leaders to make decisions, and empowers them with tools to succeed.

CEO | Founder | Alpha | Career & Talent Strategist 💥 Obsessed With Connecting High-Caliber People #powercouples #powermatches 💥
Laid off after 29 years at one company. A big reorg ended up cutting 400 people… including a senior leader who thought she’d finish her career at this company. A top producer who moved into leadership. Got steady promotions. Liked her work, liked her team, and was comfortable where she was. And then it all disappeared. A steady track record of success with a company is not a guarantee that you’ll still be there 1, 5, or 10 years from now. And YOUR loyalty won’t guarantee THEIR loyalty. It’s great to stick with a company for years at a time. Rolling stones gather no moss, after all. But your first loyalty should be to YOUR career, not the company where you work. It’s your life. It’s your career. It’s your skills that are creating results. Make sure that you’ve got a plan, and take care of yourself.

Want to get promoted this year and don’t know how? Determine the gaps. Find the white space. Most people don’t get promoted for doing a great job. They get promoted for adding new responsibilities. How do you add to your responsibilities? Find something that no one else is handling and offer to do it!

Just saw a job add that was requiring "consistent job history" and I had to laugh. Asking for that in 2024 is a wild, the job landscape is a bloodbath. I have several peers that have been laid off multiple times since 2022, with nothing to do with their talent, but by the poor choices of leadership.

🎆 What a great first week back at work. Really enjoyed talking to some of the top talent in Cyber-IAM. I continued to strengthen my knowledge and network in this area and chatted to some pretty impressive people along the way! Loved it. 💕 First weeks in new roles can be overwhelming can’t they. Your heads spinning with new systems, new people, and new beginnings. But thanks to everyone for looking after me and being kind.

5 Ways to Know When Roles & Responsibilities Are Outdated or Not Clear Enough 1. Lane jumping (jumping into someone else's area of the business to get something done). 2. Something doesn't get done, and there isn't A person who was supposed to be doing it. 3. You don't know how someone is spending their time. 4. You think someone is supposed to be doing something, and they don't think the same thing. 5. You got promoted but you are still doing a lot of your old job.

Been promoted? Don’t get stuck in your old role! It can be tricky to leave your previous job behind when you’re staying in the same organisation. It’s your comfort zone and where you feel confident so it can be tempting to spend time there rather than putting all your focus your new responsibilities. What have you done to make sure you focus on the new job more than the old? #NewJob #GotPromoted

To all the hiring managers, read this again and again: In simple terms: give people a chance to prove themselves. Your FUTURE star players might not have ALL the qualifications and experience that you desire but their work ethic WILL exceed anything and anyone that has been hired through Wasta or traditional qualifications and experience. Help BUILD the character AND experience of your employees. If your company or organization can take huge risks, so can your department from time to time.
