Transforming Companies, Teams & Leaders // Former Head of Internal Marketing @Yahoo and Head of MOJO & Employee Experience @ Verizon
For all those who travel for work… Here’s the one tip to never forget: It’s not about always flying direct when you can. It’s not about working on flights or not. It’s not about making sure you’re enrolled in all the loyalty programs. It’s about what I’m doing on this trip, as I travel for work today. Traveling for work doesn’t only mean for your job. For your client. For someone else. It’s important to schedule travel for work that’s for yourself! I’m headed to a writers retreat to work on the next book I’m writing. After years in PR and communications, I created a new path that focused on the inside of companies and people, and the power it has to not only transform organizations, leaders and employees, but what it does for how we show up externally to others. If you want to show up as your best for others, you have to show up as your best for yourself first. More to come…

Beware of companies that pressure you into signing documents during a "tour" of their office. If a company tries to make you sign a document that gives them exclusivity to represent you to potential clients, don't do it. Remember, you have the right to take your time to make informed decisions. #jobsearchtips #employmentadvice #tallahassee

Communications & Media Coach | Speaker | Broadcaster | Host of Cut Through the Noise with Aisling O' Rourke Podcast and Let's Go Green on Midlands 103
Your business or career will never grow beyond you so now is the time to push yourself outside your comfort zone. I’m just home from a month in Lanzarote. It was my second time taking a month to live and work on the island and it did not disappoint. I’m in a privileged position that I can do things like this but really it comes down to a willingness to push myself outside my comfort zone. In my communications and media coaching I am frequently asking clients to do things that safely pushes themselves outside their comfort zones. Whether that’s pitching to media or public speaking it takes courage and I firmly believe that if I was not willing to do likewise it would be hypocritical of me and frankly bad for business. I will write more about the experience when I have time to digest it but for now I wanted to encourage you to safely feel the fear and do it anyone. In a bid to practice what I preach I went Parasailing while in Lanzarote and it was wonderful. While the experience terrified me, it also reminded me of my own strength and bravery. Do you deliberately push yourself beyond your comfort zone? #communications #smallbusinessmarketing #marketing #cutthroughthenoise

Saving Startup founders 10+ hours per week through strategic virtual assistance | Virtual Assistant Agency | Matching your needs to your support partner
I couldn't be happier with the outlook of the next 6 months! For the past couple of months I've had the goal of working abroad. I've always wanted to travel, but not the typical "island hopping life". I'm talking stay in one country/city for a couple of months to truly experience it. I had a Zoom call with my cousin yesterday and we've decided to crush this goal together in November. We both run agencies, he's in Content Marketing and I'm in Virtual Assistance, so we're VERY fortunate to be in the position to do this. We're beginning with one country. Renting one apartment in a city. With one backpack each. Grinding away on our businesses. Fuelling each other to hit goal after goal. We're both packing life in here to make it work, so it kind of HAS to work😅 I boarded my first plane at 20 years old and I've flown around 10 times since. So this is the scariest thing I've done so far... We're ready to meet a bunch of great founders and nomads on the way! And network like crazy when we're out there. And I couldn't be happier. Tell me, what's the scariest thing you've ever done? Either in business or personal life? #virtualassistant #travelling #businessmanagement #agency

Director of Supply Partnerships EMEA @ adjoe | Personal Branding & Communications Expert | Black Unicorn
Recently, I encountered a profound definition of travel: “the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” This reflection, sparked at 4:30 a.m. in an airport café, led me to an insight about our professional communication. Our identity at work is a direct outcome of our cumulative life experiences. While the behaviors we show around our colleagues may differ from those we display with our close ones, the core of our personality remains the same. It's continuously shaped and reshaped by the countless stories that comprise our lives. These stories aren’t just personal journeys; they’re an endless source of inspiration and empowerment for our professional circles. They enrich our understanding, broaden our perspectives, and enhance our empathy – all critical skills in today's business world. Think for a second. On LinkedIn, a place dedicated to professional narratives, what kind of content captivates you? Is it the typical, corporate-style announcement, or is it something genuine that showcases the human face behind the professional? In sharing our authentic stories, we not only connect on a deeper level but also inspire and empower others in our network. I encourage embracing the full spectrum of our experiences, both personal and professional, to bring a more human touch to our business interactions. So, what’s your story? How do your life experiences shape who you are in the workplace? #storytelling #lifestories #personalbranding #travel #foodforthought

📣 Publicity for Startups & Scaleups | Founder @ PR Shed | PR Expert @ Sydney Startup Hub | Clients FT in Forbes, The Times, AFR, Vogue & more | Speaker | Talent Management 📣
Getting publicity and growing your profile doesn't always have to be solely focused on the brand or business you're repping. You can often find some interesting story angles from your personal life and pitch yourself to a revelant media outlet accordingly. Here I am practising what I preach. Check out this story I wrote for Mamamia (the largest women's news site in Australia) this week whilst on my jollies. The feature isn't centred on PR Shed, publicity in general or my skills in the space but does feature a tag at the end of the piece with a link to my biz and a line about what I do. The SEO value of a backlink from a major news site to my website is a massive win. With any luck you might even think I'm a bit more influential than you did previously (that's how PR works). Beyond the benefits it brings to my biz, I'm hoping it might inspire you to think about what stories you could share with the media that are less of the standard corporate fare. More personal story ideas could open up exposure opportunities in publications beyond your niche. The media don't care if you have 10 followers or 10,000, they are in the business of sharing stories that will resonate with their audience. So come on then, what have you got up your sleeve?
