💭 I’m not a fan of one day/week/month “celebrations” of black peoples, women and disabled people! We don’t exist for that period only! ✊🏾 If you want to celebrate Black History, then have year long conversation about how to eradicate racism & what can be done to make sustainable and equitable changes. 💁🏾♀️ If you want to celebrate Womens Day, then have year long conversations about women, their challenges and what can be done to make long lasting impactful change. 🦽If you want to celebrate Disability Week, then have year long conversations about how to remove the stigma and make life easier for disabled people. 👉🏾 We are past performative gestures and intentions, it’s time for something tangible, equitable and long lasting. #Inclusion #TrueAllyship #BreakTheStigma #RealAction #Equity

Top tips for championing inclusivity during Pride month...and beyond! 🌈 Be an ally, learn about LGBTQIA+ issues to enhance your understanding and support of the community. 🌈 Examine and challenge your own biases to cultivate a more inclusive mindset. 🌈 Confront discriminatory language or behaviours, promoting respect and acceptance. 🌈 Utilise inclusive language and pronouns to foster a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. 🌈 Listen to LGBTQIA+ experiences and concerns with empathy and without judgement. 🌈 Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and protect against discrimination. LGBTQIA+ inclusion should take place 365 days of the year. This is why Lifetime Group has its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy in place to make sure we’re always considering the rights and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community when decisions are being made, and to avoid any kind of ‘performative allyship’.

As Black History Month comes to a close, it’s crucial we remember that the journey towards diversity, inclusion, and equality doesn't end here. It's a beacon for ongoing change, a reminder that every day is an opportunity to weave inclusivity into the fabric of our worlds. This month has shed light on the remarkable contributions and the unwavering resilience of the Black community. Yet, the conversation and actions towards equality must continue beyond this dedicated time. It's not just about looking back at how far we've come; it's about pushing forward, ensuring that our progress is not just momentary but embedded into our everyday lives. Especially important is recognizing the intersection of race and disabilities - a crucial aspect of the inclusivity conversation that often remains overshadowed. Persons with disabilities within the Black community face unique challenges, bridging gaps between race and disability rights that necessitate thoughtful, inclusive strategies. Creating a world full of inclusion means actively dismantling the barriers that exist at these intersections. It means advocating for accessible spaces both physically and mentally, promoting diverse hiring practices, and fostering environments where every voice is not only heard but valued. As we move forward, let's challenge ourselves and those around us to not confine our efforts to a month. Let's carry the torch of inclusion and diversity throughout the year, integrating these values into our actions, decisions, and interactions. Every step we take towards building a more inclusive world helps in constructing a reality where everyone, regardless of race or ability, can thrive. Let’s continue the work, continue the conversations, and continue to create a world that reflects the richness and diversity of all its members. Together, we can make inclusivity not just an initiative, but a core part of our existence. #DiversityAndInclusion #BlackHistoryMonth #InclusiveWorld #Intersectionality
