The #EVcharging network we're building with Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging is aiming for one goal: a high-speed, high-quality, best-in-class experience. With that, we're proud to share that our network is adding the Alpitronic Hypercharger 400 to its offerings. The Hypercharger 400 offers customers a reliable experience with up to 400kW charging and support for a wide output voltage range. The first units will be available at Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging sites beginning in Q3 2024, with both CCS and NACS cables available across the network later this year. These high-power chargers are also growing the range of #EVinfrastructure produced in the United States, made by Alpitronic in Wisconsin. This partnership represents the next step in our shared commitment to uplift the public charging experience and bolster investment in the clean energy and transportation economy.

Mercedes is now deploying the all-in-one Alpitronic Hypercharger 400. Is this a broader move away from the multi-cabinet + dispensor ChargePoint Express Plus that debuted at the first MB hub site? The configuration below suggests a potential loadsharing of the 400kW resulting in a 200kW/200kW split. How will consumers respond as acceptance rates exceed 200kW deep into the charging session? One of the great benefits of modular chargers is the ability to power-link cumulatively higher-current distributed systems on a common DC bus. Drivers are then less likely to notice throttling. We saw this with the Tesla Gen3 configuration. Modularity enables circuit splitting and/or linkage of additional cabinets as utilization rises. It will be interesting to see how hub-centric systems EVolve.

The growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is a great thing for helping achieve net-zero emissions, however, ensuring our electric grid is ready for the increased demand this will create needs to be a priority. And a key piece to this is data. Fortunately, a new collaboration called EVs2Scale2030 brings together EPRI, utilities, major EV truck manufacturers, government agencies and regulators to collect data on anticipated future-EV charging deployments across the country. Read more about it on Canary Media Inc. below: https://lnkd.in/et5uJdNF #Electrification
The grid isn't ready for the EV boom. Can better data fix that?

People, Plants, Mobility, Carbon Negative Power, the Planet and Prosperity. Building scalable solutions for a livable planet. My opinions are my own.
Increased electricity demand through data and expansion of modern living combined natural gas conversion to electric, EVs, hydrogen and other decarbonization measures require much more energy that most people understand. Additional generation, storage, dispatch, demand response, virtual power and technologies are required to get us where we need to go. The market and opportunities are much larger than most people are considering. #microgrid #decarbonization #electrification #vpp #virtualpower #greensteel #greenbuildingmaterials https://lnkd.in/gkCTuE3X

Great article from Andy Lubershane below. It helps bring context to the challenge of available power for the manufacturing boom. “Here’s another fun fact: It takes about 50 kWh of electricity to manufacture 1 kWh of battery cells. If you add up all the credible announcements regarding new battery manufacturing in the US, you get about 1 TWh of annual cell production, which suggests up to 50 TWh of additional power demand. That’s over 1% of our total annual electricty supply!”
