The Olympics are just around the corner and this year we’re cheering for more than just the athletes as we celebrate the #ParisOlympics going for gold in sustainability! This year’s games are focused on utilizing #renewableenergy and limiting carbon emissions. From using LED technology for lighting to installing solar panels on the roof of the new aquatic center, Paris is finding creative paths to reducing the games’ energy consumption. Past host cities have relied heavily on diesel generators to supply electricity to stadiums and the athletes’ village. This year, Paris has decided to connect these venues to the already-existing electricity network, using renewable energy 100% generated in France to support the network during this period. The focus on renewable energy will result in an 80% reduction in energy-related carbon emissions compared to the past model of diesel generators. As we cheer on our athletes this summer, it’s important to remember that we all share this planet and must also work together to ensure we have a sustainable future. What does it take to power a #5g network from #renewable sources? The Six Senses Southern Dunes resort has the first #5gnetwork powered by 100% renewable energy, due to the installation of 760,000 photovoltaic solar panels. One key feature of this development is it can be shared across multiple #mnos, thus reducing the need to deploy more equipment for each individual Operator. The project's creators say the area will eventually be home to 50 resorts, with up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential homes scattered across 22 islands and six inland sites – that’s a big network to be powered entirely by renewables. Its great to see #innovation and big swings being taken to deploy 5g in this way https://lnkd.in/e8ETh-AS

❓ Prime Platform to showcase the UK's Clean Energy Leadership? We say - Yes 👏🏾 The #Glastonbury Festival is more than an Arts event; it has been championing sustainability since 1984, utilizing solar, wind, and even pedal power for decades. As the festival begins today - yet again it's a beacon for UK clean energy innovation. 🟢WIND and STORAGE The return of a temporary wind turbine, nicknamed "Gusty Springfield," is supplying energy to the Williams Green area of the festival site. Complemented by a battery, so surplus wind energy can be stored and used at the optimum time. 🟢EV Octopus Energy is also providing its EV charging platform, Octopus Electroverse, for festival-goers travelling in electric vehicles. Festival staff can now lease EVs through Octopus' "Salary Sacrifice" scheme, making electric transportation more accessible and reducing the festival's overall emissions. 🟢BIOGAS and SOLAR Worthy Farm also has an anaerobic digester, biogas plant, and solar farm to power its operations with clean electricity. 🟢HYDROGEN Taking clean energy a step further, Worthy Farm is partnering with Hexla and Levidian to deploy their groundbreaking LOOP technology. This "world-first" system aims to achieve carbon-negative hydrogen production from cow slurry, transforming it into clean hydrogen and valuable graphene. 🌏REACH Glastonbury's clean energy push puts the UK at the forefront of innovation, showcasing solutions to a massive audience and inspiring wider adoption. 🙌🏾LEADERSHIP We salute Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy, for taking the stage; discussing how clean energy is revolutionizing communities and making the music industry more sustainable. His talk highlights the positive impact on a global scale. #solar #wind #biomass #greenhydrogen #batterystorage #greengrowth #sustainableleadership #sustainablearts https://lnkd.in/gGMaUEf9

Cultural Dilemma in the Energy Crisis: The Survival Strategy for UK Performance Venues As energy prices soar, performance venues in the UK are suffering unprecedented impacts. Venues such as theaters, concert halls, and dance halls, which were once hotbeds of cultural prosperity, are now facing tremendous financial pressure. High energy costs, like a heavy mountain, are suffocating them, squeezing out their profit margins. This not only affects their daily operations but also brings about numerous difficulties in attracting audiences and arranging performances. At this moment, energy storage batteries, like a beacon in the dark, are guiding them in the right direction. They can store excess energy during low-cost periods at night or early morning and then release it during peak power demand in the daytime or evening, providing stable power supply for the venues. This approach not only reduces reliance on the grid but also cuts energy costs, providing auxiliary services to the grid, stabilizing grid frequency and voltage, and improving the efficiency of the power system. What's more surprising is that, combined with the use of renewable energy, energy storage batteries will exert even greater power. The utilization of clean energy sources such as solar and wind power allows venues to reduce their dependence on traditional energy sources and achieve green and environmentally friendly operations. On sunny days, venues can store excess electrical energy for use on cloudy days or at night, achieving 100% renewable energy consumption. Energy storage batteries play a key role in this process, storing energy when it is abundant and releasing it when needed, improving the utilization efficiency of renewable energy. With the continuous rise in energy prices and the increasing awareness of environmental protection, the cost-effectiveness and sustainability of energy storage batteries will enable their widespread application in the performance venue industry in the UK and globally. By adopting advanced energy storage technologies and reasonable operation and management strategies, performance venues can not only reduce energy costs and operational pressure but also contribute to the green development of the industry. We have reason to believe that, in the future, the performance venue industry will pay more attention to sustainability and cost control, and energy storage batteries will play an indispensable role in this process.

This is energy productivity in action - getting more value from every unit of energy we consume. NEXTDC, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Equinix all have DC's which are often right next to aquatic centres, hospitals, airports, hotels, shopping centres etc all needing to decarbonise their heating and lower their costs. What an opportunity. Is this something for EnergyLab? Or an Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) kickstart? #energyproductivity #districtheating #decarbonisation https://lnkd.in/gkm6Cieb

As we gear up for the 4th of July celebrations tomorrow, it's a perfect moment to reflect on the incredible energy innovations that power our lives. Fireworks will soon light up the sky with spectacular displays, but did you know they don't actually produce usable energy? Instead, they release stored chemical energy in bursts of sound and light. While visually stunning, they aren't a source of sustainable power. In contrast, solar panels harness the abundant energy from the sun to power our homes and businesses. Solar energy is clean, renewable, and increasingly affordable, making it a cornerstone of our transition to a more sustainable future. At EnergyAid, we’re passionate about educating homeowners on the benefits of solar power and helping them optimize their solar systems. As we prepare for the festivities, let’s also consider how we can continue to innovate and embrace renewable energy solutions for a brighter tomorrow. Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Independence Day celebration! 🌞🎆 #FourthOfJuly #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #EnergyAid
