The key takeaway for me as a recruiting professional is her argument for science over art in recruiting: Claire discusses the need for hiring leaders and recruiters to approach hiring with a 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧: - What is the job we're hiring for? - What are the capabilities needed to succeed in that role? - What questions will we ask each candidate? - What do "good" answers look like? - You then need to ask the same questions of all candidates so you can build a data set and compare. The above is no doubt obvious to many of my TA peers on here in 2024. But it's worth repeating when on the ground we're very much still on the journey of making structured hiring a standard universal practice. Anyway this excellent interview is a timely reminder - for me at least - to get started on Claire's book "Scaling People". Also if you are a leader/founder seeking to better understand the benefits of embracing structured hiring techniques, the Greenhouse Software book "Talent Makers" is a wonderful and super accessible introduction for all.
