Have you recently had a promising interview but are still eagerly waiting to hear back from the hiring manager? It can be tempting to reach out to the recruiter, but it's important to remember the rule of thumb: wait at least a week before following up. Let me explain why you might not have received a response yet: 🔍 1) The company may still be in the process of interviewing other candidates, carefully evaluating each one to make an informed decision. This thoroughness is a positive sign that they are committed to finding the best fit for the role. 🔍 2) It's also possible that the hiring manager went on vacation or had other urgent matters to attend to immediately after your interview. Remember, they have multiple responsibilities and may need additional time to provide an update. 🔍 3) The decision-making process can often take longer than anticipated. The company may be carefully evaluating your qualifications and comparing them with other candidates to ensure they select the best person for the job. This deliberation is a testament to their commitment to making the right decision. 🔍 4) Additionally, the company may be working on internal equity to determine the appropriate compensation package they can offer you. This process can sometimes take time, as they consider various factors to ensure fairness and alignment with their compensation structure. ⏰ While waiting for a response, it's important to be patient and allow the hiring process to unfold. It's natural to feel eager and excited, but reaching out too soon may inadvertently create unnecessary pressure. Remember, the hiring process can vary for each company, and it's important to respect their timeline. 📧 When the appropriate time comes, consider reaching out to the recruiter with a polite and concise follow-up message. Express your continued interest in the position and inquire about the next steps in the process. This demonstrates your professionalism and enthusiasm for the opportunity. 🗣️ I hope these insights help you navigate the waiting period after an interview! 📢 No one dreams of being a recruiter 📢 🤯 That might be a generalizing statement, however, most people who fall into recruitment probably didn't even know what it was when they were interviewing. Most people dream of being a marine biologist (I'm sure you or someone you know definitely did 🤣 I did!), lawyers, doctors, builders etc. but never recruitment. A couple of years ago I decided I wanted to work in the Life Sciences space but wasn't sure exactly what. I am very interested in the developments of science, curing rare diseases, new technologies helping people live longer and the list goes on. I do not have a science degree, but what I do have is passion (and I love talking to people). I knew about recruitment and what it was but had no idea the extent of how powerful it can be. The feeling of placing a candidate in such a meaningful industry is indescribable. Knowing that the person I have placed, whether it is a CMO, COO, VP of Quality, etc. each individual plays a crucial role in getting a step closer to a cure, lengthening the life of someone, doing meaningful research to help develop diseases/illnesses, etc. Every single person in the life sciences industry has a joint purpose and that is patient first. The end goal is always thinking about helping someone in the future. I spoke to a CEO the other day and he said 'I got into Life Sciences, specifically oncology, knowing that in my lifetime we wouldn't find a cure. But I will spend my life working towards finding one for the future - I am proud to work in an industry that spends their lives thinking of others and working with inspirational people every single day! #lifesciences #inspirational #oncology
