Augmented reality and virtual reality present immense potential for the future of health care, with new advancements like the #AppleVisionPro leading the way.
Dr. Bruno Gobbato, an esteemed orthopedic surgeon in Brazil, recently joined our Spatial Studio to share how he is pioneering the use of the Apple Vision Pro technology in orthopedic surgical procedures. Here are a few ways the technology is transforming them:
🩺 Improving precision by providing surgeons access to view 3D models, planning documents, X-rays, MRTs, and surgical notes simultaneously
🏥Fostering collaboration between medical professionals
👨⚕️Enhancing Surgeons' comprehensive skill sets

Using VR during surgery?!
Dr. Bruno Gobbato used the Apple Vision Pro to optimize a shoulder arthroscopy, experiencing a much clearer and more immersive view compared to traditional screens.
"It's like watching a movie screen with high resolution," Dr. Gobbato said, "plus I could see patient exams and 3D models right there in real-time."
This innovative technology is expected to become a regular part of healthcare in the future.

In a world's first, Jerusalem doctors perform an extremely complex spinal surgery using AR + Robotics. The patient was risking losing all body movement:
This patient was risking losing all body movement due to a spinal injury.
Dr. Cezar Mizrahi, after assessing the patient, decided to use a robot-guided Augmented Reality assisted imaging surgery of the fractured spine.
The technology allowed the team to apply surgical screws in an extremely precise fashion along the spinal column.
“Bringing together AR and robotics in this minimally invasive technique had never been performed in surgery anywhere in the world,” said Mizrahi after the successful operation.
"The experience of performing surgery equipped with an AR headset felt like being a combat pilot,” he recalled.
“I had all the patient’s vital information, including the CT images, displayed directly in front of me."
The system used was Novarad, and the devices were Microsoft's HoloLens.
