Stepping into the vibrant world at Lucidworks, I'm thrilled to share my first #FridayUpdate in a while! I am overwhelmed with all the information I can share and need help figuring out where to start. This might actually be why I haven't written a post. Finding a place to start can be challenging. So I'm just going to start. 💪🏻 It's been a little over a month since I started my new role, and I am so thankful. This place is unique and different, which makes it special. I'm learning all aspects of the culture, our products, and the teams that build them. 🙏🏻 I started a weekly blog on our internal Confluence page highlighting everything my team has worked on. In putting together today's first post, I was amazed at all I've accomplished in my first 6 weeks. Here are some highlights: ⭐️ Built out our own Roadmap ⭐️ Defined 5 areas of focus ⭐️ Supported my team as we had a team member leave ⭐️ Drafted a team Mission & Vision ⭐️ Created a plan to build out the Eng Ops team and program ⭐️ Sat with leaders of Engineering for a listening tour ⭐️ Identified 9 process improvement quick wins and implemented 4 with 4 more in progress ⭐️ Created a project plan around a process improvement that is needed ⭐️ Supported my manager and revamping another process, launching Jan 2 Not to mention meeting so many wonderful people along the way. I can't wait to see what 2024 brings. Undoubtedly, it will include so much learning and growth. And I'll share it with you as it happens. Recently, I've been exploring lucid dreaming as a tool for creative problem-solving in my career. It's fascinating how a different state of consciousness can offer new perspectives. But here’s the twist: last night, in a lucid dream, I envisioned a revolutionary business idea. When I pitched it the next day, it was met with unanimous approval and is now set to become our flagship project. For most of us, dreaming about work is a nightmare. But this tech startup is working on a product to help individuals harness lucid dreams, induce them on demand, and use that time productively. Yeah, It’s as weird as it sounds. A lucid dream is a state between wake and sleep, where an individual is aware they’re dreaming. Per Fortune, this is how the product by Prophetic works: - The headband is worn like a crown and releases sound waves into the region of the brain responsible for lucid dreams. - The beams will then activate parts of the brain that control our awareness and decision-making. Halos will cost ~$1.5k-$2k each, and customers can reserve one ahead of time with a $100 down payment. It's more than just a practice or a process—it's a transformative force that can change everything. Imagine minds converging on a singular idea, aligned in purpose and passion and what all can be achieved through it. Recently, with an office opening at hand, everyone had more tasks than they could count, yet they all went above and beyond to make the opening, a successful event. I believe no task is beneath anyone, and I'm proud to see this mindset imbibed in each team member. Whether it's helping with sample making or a photoshoot, everyone is involved in everything. (literally everything) Every task, every project is a team effort. Yes, individual goals are important, but being a team player takes us to unimaginable heights. The success we achieve as a team is far greater than what any of us could accomplish alone. Every challenge we face becomes a stepping stone, and every milestone we reach is the proof our collective strength. So, here's to my incredible team at ARRCOAT! Did you catch the Oscars... Robert Downey Jr., won the Best Supporting Actor for 'Oppenheimer.' What a moment! You know, he said something really striking in his acceptance speech: "I'd like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy." Seven words, but they hit deep. Makes you think about the challenges we face and how they shape us, right? Imagine, after more than 50 years in the business, this was Downey's first Oscar. It's like a real-life story of perseverance. I remember reading about his ups and downs, battling addiction, and coming back stronger each time. It's inspiring how he transformed his struggles into strength. That's something we can all learn from. I was chatting with a colleague about it, and we agreed: these life challenges, as tough as they are, play a huge part in who we become. They're not just obstacles; they're opportunities for growth. And it's not just about overcoming difficulties. It's about embracing them, finding gratitude in them, which is what Downey did. It's a powerful lesson in resilience and gratitude, don't you think? By the way, did anyone catch Da'Vine Joy Randolph's speech? "I always wanted to be different, but now I realize that I just need to be myself." Another powerful message about authenticity and being true to ourselves. So, let's take a page out of their book. Embrace your journey, with all its highs and lows.
