What's even more exciting is that such innovative services can be offered by small businesses and not necessarily only via large engineering organisations. 🚀 I'm excited to share that I've been selected to participate in the latest cohort of the Conception X program, which stands at the forefront of PhD deep-tech ventures in the UK. My focus will be on developing an innovative concept centred around utilizing Subsurface rocks for large-scale electricity storage, potentially benefiting entire cities or regions by taking full advantage of renewable energies. This opportunity will provide me with extensive training in both business and deep-tech entrepreneurship, empowering me with the necessary expertise to transform conceptual ideas into practical solutions. The panel discussions and training events hosted by the program in London have been incredibly enlightening. They've offered in-depth insights into the challenges and opportunities within the deep tech sector. These interactions have not only broadened my understanding but have also fueled a stronger determination to progress with my projects. The experience has been a fantastic amalgamation of networking, learning, and gaining invaluable insights from investors and industry experts. It has enabled me to connect with fellow enthusiasts, exchange ideas, and further ignite my passion and drive for innovation in energy storage. It's evident that Conception X goes beyond simply nurturing startups; it's about catalyzing meaningful, research-driven innovations with long-lasting effects. I'm thankful to the Conception X team Olivia Ash, Richard Anson, Riam Kanso, Beth Massam for the knowledge, skills, and connections I've acquired through this journey. I believe that running experiments 🔬 is the key to fast innovation. No matter if you are a small startup, or a large corporates you need to experiment more. In the area of Climate tech, many of the innovations are in the stage of scientific experiment, and those as well need funding, validation, partners and eventually to go commercial and scale. Experiment.com is a great initiative by David Lang that helps scientists and explorer fund their experiments and eventually get traction and awareness. It is funded by Y Combinator , Index Ventures , Andreessen Horowitz , WEAT Studio and more. You can upload and fundraise experiments and also invest in experiments in areas such as biology, climate, psychology, neuroscience, arts and design and more. 🧪 Elliot Johnston is raising 2000 USD to evaluate the role of small forested islands in Maine as climate change refugia for both song birds. 🧪Franck Lejzerowicz raises 13K USD to answer if deep-sea metals are powering bioelecrical bio-evolution. There are also calls for grants: 🧫 Homeworld Collective for example called for scientists to experiment in the intersection between climate biotech and protein engineering, grant officers Daniel Goodwin and Paul Reginato. The main problem is that not many scientists are aware of initiative like these.
