On this Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting NYC youth through Roads to Success, an organization I have been involved with for many years. The pandemic significantly impacted academic achievement, leaving many students struggling to recover even three years later (article link below). Your donations will directly contribute to reducing education disparities. This #GivingTuesday, our focus is on raising crucial funds for these initiatives: - College prep workshops - College tours for low-income students - College applications/travel for first-gen students - Career-building workshops and leadership events - Paid internship opportunities NYC's youth possess immense potential, but many lack the resources to reach their aspirations. Together, we can rewrite this story! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. Will you join us in supporting their journey today? Tomorrow is the last day to participate in the Batten Alumni Advisory Board’s “Spring Challenge” to fundraise money for the University of Virginia Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Donations go towards students whom pursue unpaid or underfunded internships in the public sector. This year, the goal is to raise $35,000 to support the Batten School’s future policy leaders. Your donation can: (1) Allow students to pursue internships that align with their passions in policy. (2) Alleviate any financial barriers that prevent today's student leaders from becoming tomorrow’s public servants. (3) Pay forward a metro swipe to work, a networking lunch, or a tank of gas to commute. Having experienced unpaid internships, I know these donations can very much be the margin of success for these students’ careers. The impact compounds far past just funding the internship, as that experience then leverages other opportunities down the road. Join us in raising money for the future policy leaders at the Batten School and help leave a lasting impact in these students careers by making your gift today! #GivingDay #UVA #Batten #PublicSector #Internships “ https://lnkd.in/eEBz9rZ8

Empowering Charities Through Apprenticeships | Corndel | Data Driven Decision Making | Strategic Use Of Apprenticeship Levy and Gifted Levy
Apprenticeships are not about: 📍 Forcing someone in to a programme ⚡ Being offered to only 'top right' performers 1️⃣ A one off learning experience Apprenticeships are about: 🕛 Continuous Learning 🤝 A collaborative partnership between us, the charity/organisation and the learners 🤲 An impactful option for all staff, not just those who are the high performers 💲 A cost-effective learning and development opportunity using apprenticeship levy (or gifted levy...did you know we won an award for our work on that?!) We work directly with #L&D and People Leads, along with the Department Heads to decide what the right apprenticeship is for your learners and charity strategy. It is not about just having 1-2 learners from a large organisation ad-hoc, as you will struggle to see impact. I'm delighted that in the time I've been here I've seen a real shift from organisations looking to make real impact with apprenticeships , and hope this continues even further into the rest of 2024. #apprenticeships #careeradvice #learning #skillsdevelopment https://lnkd.in/ewaNFvQY

I am glad to be a participant in today's Day 3 of onThejob internship and Apprenticeship Program at RAD5 Tech Hub, sponsored by Google.org. The aim of this program is to enlighten young people about the Tech world and how they can be fully be involved in it. Our present world lies in the hands of people who can identify and create solutions to different problems in the society. And it is the work of an Entrepreneur to identify and create business ideas which will be solutions to problems in our society. Who then can be an entrepreneur? Anyone. You can be an entrepreneur if you can identify and create business ideas, create solutions to different problems and scale through in the business industry. But you can't just wake up being one. You need to learn the steps to follow inorder to create business ideas, and factors to consider while creating one. And today in onThejob internship and Apprenticeship Program we were taught steps by steps on how to come up with business ideas, factors to consider before creating a business idea and how to scale through in the business industry. It’s always sooooo impactful to give back. I love that there are educational incentives like these that allow students first-hand access to working professionals in the fields that they find interesting. As a Tech Professional who has achieved great success, I can acknowledge that there have been advocates and resources that not only inspired me, they poured into me. Having an opportunity to be that for others is humbling and empowering. I applied!! Are you interested in giving back to high school students as they take the first steps to embark on the journey of a lifetime? It’s beautiful - a technical education path that will equip them for all the wonder of tomorrow. #volunteering #philanthropy #techeducation #teals #blackintech #queerintech #productmanagement #saas #healthcaretech #professionalservices #giveback

After 8 years of volunteer service with Sushil Raja as a Mentor, Cohort Leader, and Program Director, I’m thrilled to join the Board of Directors of Minds Matter NYC. I’m excited to continue to amplify a mission that’s close to my heart: closing the educational equity gap by empowering under resourced, high-achieving high school students get into college, graduate, and build a successful career. Who does Minds Matter support? The average family income for a student accepted to Minds Matter is $35K, 95% of students identify as BIPOC, and 99% are the first in their family to go to college. What outcomes does it drive? 100% of Minds Matter students are accepted to a 4-year college or university, 45% attend highly competitive colleges (like Brown, Georgetown, Cornell, and MIT), and 90% graduate from college within 4 years. In my new role, I’m focused on bringing more resources to the organization so that it can grow to support more students. If Minds Matter’s mission resonates with you, let’s talk about how you or your employer can contribute. 1 - Your time: Depending on your interests and skillset, there are different ways to directly work with students. Volunteering with Minds Matter has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done in my life. 2 - Your money: Donations enable the organization to provide resources to each student such as: SAT prep and essay writing support, summer programs on college campuses, and stipends for college expenses. 3 - Your company’s time and money: Companies can support a worthy cause and advance their own D&I initiatives - through sponsorships and partnerships to create internship and job opportunities for Minds Matter’s incredible pool of talented students.
