For the better part of a decade now, the Affordable Care Act’s Employer Mandate (otherwise called Pay or Play) has been in effect, which requires Applicable Large Employers (ALEs) with more than 50 full-time employees (FTEs) to offer healthcare coverage to any employee who works, on average, 30 hours per week. Employers have generally worked through the traps and designed programs to meet the Employer Mandate requirements, but one major hurdle still baffles: How are we handling non-full-time employees?
