Picture this: Silicon Valley, a concrete jungle with dollar signs hanging off the trees. Bright minds swarm like bees, buzzing on big dreams and innovation. But the catch? You need more than passion and a bright idea; cold, hard cash is the gatekeeper. Visualize a relentless relay race, where batons are unique business ideas, and every participant is gasping for the finish line—funding. That glorious pot of gold that can morph a mere concept into a thriving enterprise. But here’s the bitter truth—not all can emerge victorious in this survival of the fittest. The track is congested, littered with hopefuls clutching onto their revolutionary dreams. Then what separates the winners from the participants? - A clear trajectory—discerning the finish line before the starting gun fires. - A strong alliance—an efficient and supportive crew running shoulder to shoulder. - Creating real ripples—innovations that don’t just excite but revolutionize. Silicon Valley isn’t just a destination; it’s a gauntlet thrown down—a test of resilience and determination. So, remember, the grueling race is worth every bead of sweat. If you need help, shoot us a message.

Black Tech Saturdays has brought an energy and momentum to the City of Detroit’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, thanks to the efforts of Alexa Turnage and Johnnie Turnage. In just a year, this weekly event at Newlab has grown from a dozen participants to over 1,000+ weekly. Entrepreneurs show up to find talent, to find new opportunities, to connect with each other. Why is this so important? The answer is simple math: 🧩Our Detroit population is comprised of over 80% black and brown people 🧩Less than 1% of venture capital goes to startups owned by black and brown entrepreneurs 🧩Tech jobs are like the automotive factory jobs our grandparents came to Detroit to fill over the past century that lifted them up and into the middle class 🧩Detroit’s resurgence has fueled increases in real estate values and added over $3Billion in wealth to the black community over the past decade TechTown Detroit, NPower, Venture For America and a host of other organizations are all collaborating and contributing to Detroit’s continued resurgence. https://lnkd.in/gZWazp7M

The Paradox of Being a Nobody: Constructing Importance in a World of Fleeting Relevance A great article from Andrew Middleton of INDY. You can follow the link the the full article below. "... amidst the uncertainty and volatility of our modern world, there lies a profound realisation: the trustworthy source of importance lies within ourselves. It's not about the titles we hold or the accolades we accumulate, but rather, the values we embody, the relationships we cultivate, and the impact we have on the lives of others". https://lnkd.in/enUZK2-E

Kelly Johnson is a legend amongst all manufacturers worthy of the name. He pioneered the „Skunk Way“, an approach proning the reach of a prototype as soon as possible in the serial manufacturing process, since data proved most of the costs incurred after the reach of prototype performance. This remains true today and is one of the fundamental concepts behind Lean and Agile. Kelly was a one-of-its-kind genius and is behind some of the most impressive innovations mankind ever produced, among which - you will have guessed it 😉, my all-time favorite the SR-71 Blackbird (_I think I love that plane as much as Jack Sparrow his Black Pearl, and for the same reasons probably (😁!!)_). Today the bird still holds speed records for serially manufactured planes (until NGAD comes out). Cheers to Kelly ! His principles are susceptible to enlight any Product Owner or Program Director who takes the job seriously and wants to get something delivered. I can only recommend to all my network the read, and the deep dive in Kelly‘s work. Far from any framework, he restates evident truth that go forgotten in the meanders of politics and egos. This was Lean-Agile long before its became Lean-Agile!
Whether it’s “Founder,” “Head Skunk” or simply “Kelly,” Clarence Johnson made a profound impact on multiple high tech industries with the creation of his 14 Rules and Practices, which serve as a roadmap to drive rapid innovation. I am told, Kelly used to say that “what we do is secret, but how we do it is not,” specifically referencing the 14 Rules. We have a lot to thank Kelly for, and on what would have been his 114th birthday, I want to honor his vision that continues to inspire the creation of cutting edge solutions today. Thank you, Kelly. The difference between Silicon Valley & Silicon Slopes? Utah focuses on hitting doubles. We are really good at selling a product and finding a way to build businesses that have healthy exits and can be sold in ~ six years. The nice part about this strategy–when you hit enough doubles, you are bound to hit a home run.

From 2 days to 2 years Dear Zinkee and friends: I arrived to support the engineering team in resolving performance issues that were impacting the company's image. The software was rendered unusable, but with the assistance of the existing team (Guillermo González Jiménez and Vicente Pérez Linares at that time) and some specialists we reached out to, we managed to overcome the challenges and sustain the load—albeit not without a few hiccups in the process. Eventually, the monolith was divided into more manageable services, and after some less-than-optimized attempts, we successfully assembled every piece server-side (to the extent it allowed til now.) With the company's rapid growth, subsequent investment rounds allowed us to expand our engineering resources. Embracing the uncertainty of the situation, we faced challenges from larger clients with more extensive requirements, which brought out the best in each of us. Along the way, we learned a great deal, with our primary focus on keeping the systems operational. A special shout-out to the Customer Service team (Paula Sánchez Castillo, Carmen Rocío Hiraldo Borrero and many others who have already departed) for buying us time and maintaining composure during challenging moments. Without their support, we would never have retained our legacy and new clients, who remain engaged with our software. I will always cherish the memories of the exhausting yet refreshing and fun two-day off-site events I was a part of👌🏼. And what can I say about our after-work moments and get-togethers with the whole team? A lot of laughter and joy. 🎉 Epic! So here we are. After contributing to the design and architecture of what will become the new Zinkee, it is time for me to bid farewell. The engineering team now comprises +10 individuals, with more to join soon. Reflecting on the journey, I am reminded of a quote from the movie 300: "If you see what we did with just 300 warriors, imagine what we will do with 10,000 of us Spartans" — or something along those lines. Now, David Pérez Martínez is doing an excellent job, and I appreciate the smooth transition we managed and his effective leadership in taking care of the team, budget, and expectations. As I depart, I am excited about what the future holds for both Zinkee and myself. Future looks promising and who knows if our paths will cross again. I am confident that any future encounters will only deepen my appreciation for the company and its founders: Gonzalo Román de León, Alvaro Pareja-Obregón Caballero, Curro Moreno Vidal, and the rest of course. It has truly been a pleasure, and as you all know, you can count on me. I initially came for a two-day visit and ended up staying for two years – that says it all 💌 Best Regards, Paco

From my early dreams of economics to my diverse career, every step has led me here. 🎢🎉 Throughout building what is now my third or fourth company, I’ve encountered skepticism and premature judgments.
