Here are some interesting facts about Canada Day: 1. **Birth of a Nation**: Canada Day marks the anniversary of the confederation of Canada on July 1, 1867, when the British North America Act (now known as the Constitution Act) came into effect, uniting the colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada (which became Ontario and Quebec). 2. **Originally Called Dominion Day**: The holiday was originally called Dominion Day until it was renamed Canada Day in 1982, following the passage of the Canada Act which gave Canada full sovereignty from the United Kingdom. 3. **Nationwide Celebrations**: Canada Day is celebrated with various events and activities across the country, including parades, fireworks, concerts, and barbecues. The largest celebration is held in Ottawa, the capital city, featuring performances, cultural displays, and a massive fireworks show.

On Monday, we celebrate 🇨🇦 and our 157th birthday, I wanted to share what Canada Day means to me: 1. National Pride: It’s a day to celebrate Canadian culture, achievements, and values. 2. Historical Reflection: Many take the time to reflect on the history of Canada, including its founding and development over the years. 3. Cultural Diversity: Canada Day often highlights the country’s multiculturalism and the contributions of various communities. 4. Family and Community: It’s a time for gatherings, parades, fireworks, and other local/national events. 5. Acknowledgement of Indigenous Peoples: Increasingly, there’s recognition of the complex history and the need to acknowledge and reconcile with the Indigenous peoples of Canada. What does Canada Day mean to you personally? Please post in the comment section.

Embracing the True North - Where Eh Meets Elegance! 🍁 Can you believe it's almost been a year since I embarked on this wild Canadian adventure? Time flies when you're learning to say "sorry" like a true Canadian, eh? Kendra Fry and Lana Mau, thanks for teaching me that! :D Leaving the warmth of home for the frosty embrace of #Canada was a leap of faith, but hey, every journey needs a bit of frost, right? I've worked hard, hustled harder and seized every opportunity that came my way, not just for me, but for my family back in India and my incredible wife Akanksha Gupta who joined me on this adventure. I certainly learned to appreciate the resilience that keeps this place running even when the snow decides to throw a party. Now, about the "True North" - did you know Alfred Tennyson coined that term to express Canada's loyalty to the British Crown? Talk about commitment! Here I am, an Indian dude from a land that spent a good two centuries sipping tea and saying "cheerio" to the British Crown. Full circle, eh? But let's get real. Canada is more than just history; it's a land with a great heart and an unwavering spirit. Lately, there's been chatter about #immigrants being the root of all problems. Seriously, have they met me? Haha! There are more like me who are not here to cause trouble; we're just here to bring a little extra spice to the poutine of life. Sure, we face challenges, but that's the deal with any adventure. The backlash is there, but so is the warmth of new friendships and shared experiences. In a world where #diversity is strength, let's choose understanding over blame. So, here's to Canada - where the True North meets a funny guy from a land that once had the Queen on speed dial. Let's build bridges, break stereotypes, and show the world the power of ‘unity in diversity’ – Learnt this back home! :) #canadalife #immigrantstories #spreadlove

Love Ukraine’s new “We Are Here” initiative. This is why we love and support the travel industry. This is why we travel. Because today, it’s all about supporting local people and communities. And the tourism industry has the exciting responsibility to do just that. #letsgo ~ Rob ❤️💪🇺🇦 It was simply heartwarming to see their small and modest booth last week at ITB Berlin. But Ukraine is not alone. Every destination has its challenges and struggles — politics, bureaucracy, corruption, conflict, funding, mismanagement, complacency, lack of stakeholder unity or being simply lost. This is why we help others. Ukraine is doing their part. Now we, the travel industry and beyond, must do our part. 🫵 Their simple presence at the largest travel trade show in the world — shows their passion, love and determination to stand up to adversity and let the world know that their people are still there. Their united strength. Most people are totally unaware that Ukraine still has a very proud tourism industry. #ukrainestrong Unwavering resilience, patience and readiness for when tourism can resume. What an exciting day that will be. In the meantime, we all need to do our part to help tourism and destinations like Ukraine to remain strong, united and positive on their longterm future. Quote >> “Ukraine’s participation in ITB Berlin is not just about promoting Ukraine's tourism offerings — it is a testament to the strength and spirit of the Ukrainian people.” Read the brief article on their presence at ITB Berlin 2024: https://lnkd.in/gcfQJKYN State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine Hjörtur Smárason Mariana Oleskiv #ukraine #sustainabletourism #sustainability #tourismstrong #itbberlin2024 #itb2024 GLP Films

Canada needs to change course! An economy built on immigration alone could not be sustainable. We need to develope a Canadian-based economic system that includes: natural resources, industrial production, innovation, construction, infrastructure, Canadian Aerospace and Canadian automotive. Why is Government subsidizing the foreign automotive industry? They come they take and they leave, Aren’t we able to design and build a Canadian automobile for export to other countries? With all the subsidies offered to Stellantis, Wolksvagen and Honda we could have built a state-of-the-art mega factory ourselves to manufacture an all Canadian EV, We have enormous potential in the Aerospace industry Why are we allowing foreign investors to buy the Bombardier C series when Canadians taxpayers contributed to the development of such beautiful aircraft? Hopefully a new leadership in government will keep some of these ideas in mind.

Ashton Testing Services will be closed for Victoria Day in Canada: May 20th, 2024 Why do Canadians celebrate Victoria Day? · Birthday: Queen Victoria’s birthday. She reigned for 63 years! Honouring History: Queen Victoria's reign coincided with Canada's Confederation in 1867, earning her the nickname "Mother of Confederation." Unofficial Summer Kickoff: Victoria Day often falls on the long weekend before summer. Many Canadians see it as a time to fire up the BBQ, head to the cottage, or enjoy some outdoor activities! Do all provinces and territories recognize Victoria Day as a statutory holiday? No. There are four Canadian provinces that don't celebrate Victoria Day in the same way as the rest of Canada: · Nova Scotia: Victoria Day isn't a statutory holiday in Nova Scotia. They enjoy the long weekend, but it's not an official provincial holiday. · New Brunswick: New Brunswick doesn't consider Victoria Day a paid public holiday. · Prince Edward Island: Prince Edward Island has Victoria Day listed as a holiday in provincial legislation, but it's not a statutory holiday with guaranteed time off work. · Quebec: Quebec renamed the holiday "Journée nationale des Patriotes" (National Patriotes Day) in 2002 to commemorate the Quebec Rebellion of 1837-38.

Canada Day is a national holiday celebrating the country's independence from Great Britain in 1867. The new nation, still loyal to Great Britain, was called the Dominion of Canada and consisted of only four provinces ((Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec). Now, there are 10 provinces and 3 territories. Thought I would share some fun facts. • Canada is the second-largest country in the world. • One of the longest highways in the world is in Canada. • Churchill, Manitoba, is the "Polar Bear Capital of the World." • Canada crosses six time zones. • Canada has the longest coastline of any country. • Canada is the world's largest producer of maple syrup. • Canadian national sports are Lacrosse and Hockey • The name "Canada" has indigenous roots. It comes from the word kanata, meaning "village" or "settlement • The beaver is Canada's national animal. Canada is rich in wildlife like grizzly bears, moose, cougars, elk & black bears • The telephone & basketball was invented in Canada. Wishing you all a Happy Canada day from Anjuna Airlines Solutions.
