Want to give a shout out and acknowledge my client Emma. As a hugely successful and well regarded M.D., I give her the credit for taking a stand for the quality of life she is committed to, and negotiating a career that works for HER (rather than the other way around). And – without “giving up” any of her extraordinary success, as she’s quite passionate about her work and contribution. This reminds me of the concept I talk about that “people will buy what we’re selling.” It’s all about boundaries. Are we selling that we’re a pushover and will work round the clock? Or are we selling that we have firm and confident boundaries WITHIN which we will still do our jobs impeccably?

Before we can influence others, we must be able to influence ourselves that we have something of value to offer. I mean, if *we* wouldn't believe us...why would anyone else? Not understanding, acknowledging, and embracing one's value is a core reason why one falls short of success. It’s also a big reason why one charges less than they should, gives in to others' demands too easily, and in many other ways fails to achieve their true potential.
