'In the absence of authoritative advice, young people are learning about sex and sexual health from online sources, social media and pornography. This exposes children to an unacceptable risk of harm. A greater priority needs to be placed on RSE by the Government, school leaders and Ofsted.' It's encouraging to see this Women and Equalities Committee report - we HAVE to talk more about Sexual Health... STI rates have been rising for the last 5 years, now at record highs, and young people are the most affected. Open, informative, and positive RSE is vital for young people's physical and emotional health.

Sex hormones are fundamental to reproductive health. But what happens as sex hormones fluctuate through the years? In this timeline, we explore key events in sex hormone health for all genders across the lifespan—and how these chemical messengers influence disease risk and well-being along the way.

This report really cements the importance of my current research, looking at improving Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) practitioners' ability to screen for domestic abuse and modern slavery during remote consultation. Safeguarding is a major aspect of healthcare, and SRH services are particularly well placed to spot signs of abuse. Equipping practitioners with the right tools, guidance and training is crucial to enable them to meet this new challenge with confidence.

Pleasure is not a dirty word. The word pleasure is in the Australian curriculum 4 times! All in relation to pleasurable reading. As a profound human experience, it is an essential word/topic missing from education of ALL ages. Just as we can teach consent in a scaffolded way from very early ages without referring to ‘sex’ (i.e. see our multi award winning resource for primary schools) We can teach pleasure in the same way… “…It’s great if everyone ‘feels good’ playing the game, it wont be enjoyable for everyone if someone does not actually want to join in…” = pleasure and consent Ed messages for 5 year olds When older students are asking for more information in school Ed about sex and how to have it, I think they are asking about the pleasure aspect especially. They also took a more empowering approach by helping people understand their sexual rights, making positive sexual choices, feeling confident and proud of their bodies, and affirming their right to enjoy sex.” -“Young people and adolescents  Sex education programs for young people were the most effective when they were fun and empowering.  In Spain and Brazil, school-based sexual health programs that presented sexuality as positive and enjoyable increased condom use among students compared to schools without such programs.” “Promoting pleasure-inclusive programs   Integrating pleasure into sexual health education boosts sexual self-esteem, confidence, and promotes safer choices.  This approach, as the study suggests, should be a central focus of future sexual and reproductive health research. To be most effective, sex education programs need to embrace more interactive and empowering frameworks.  In fact, public health researchers already recognize sexual pleasure as one of four pillars of sexuality in population health.   These insights are crucial in shaping a healthier, more informed holistic approach to sexual health education. By including pleasure in sex education, we can do more than reduce infections, we can save lives and enhance wellbeing.”
