NYE in my most favorite city in the world, San Francisco. She’s had a tough run of it in recent years, but this old girl will always come back strong. The city felt alive again with the bustle of tourists, packed shops and restaurants, and most importantly for our industry, full hotels! The Palace, that beautiful, iconic grand dame, welcomed us back like a familiar friend.
Economic cycles are forever changing/evolving, and urban destinations are either the beneficiaries or the collateral damage of those cycles. Ultimately though, what once was great can be great again - perhaps ever better - and it’s one of the reasons why the real estate industry is so fascinating. Through the peaks and troughs, the ebbs and flows, these places morph and continue to transform. Hotel development and the tourism industry play such a critical role in the vitality and success of these evolutions. All the great places in the world have experienced these cycles, and the truly great ones will always rise again.
“When I come home to you, San Francisco, your golden sun will shine for me…”
Happy New Year! 🎆
