What recieves the most stress and wear on any crane? Yep, the hoist line! As a Inspector my job is to check for wear and damage. There are signs of core damage to any hoist line or running cable that tells you that the cable needs to be replaced. To name a few; a bulging strand, reduction of diameter, strands separating causing the diameter to increase. Sometimes obvious and sometimes not so obvious.

The Guardians of the Weld 👩🏻🏭🧑🏻🏭🔥⚖️ As welding inspectors, we’re the guardians standing between flawed builds and structural disasters. By upholding rigorous industry codes as our banner, we safeguard infrastructure, assets, investments and most importantly, lives and our integrity is not up for compromise. Because long after the job is done, our principles remain welded into the folds of every project we vet. International Maritime Organization International Maritime Industries IOGP IOGP Europe Dear IMO Top Management, We would like to bring to your attention an error in the painting specification that has been in place since 2014. The current requirement stating that "only coating inspectors with at least 2 years' relevant coating inspector experience and qualified to NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 or FROSIO Inspector Level III, or with an equivalent qualification" is incorrect. It's important to note that there is a misconception in the industry that NACE Level 2 is equivalent to FROSIO Level III. However, in reality, to achieve NACE Level 2 or FROSIO Level III, different minimum qualifications and experience levels are necessary. To have proper Justification the following perhaps amended in your painting specification. NACE Level 2 is equivalent to FROSIO Level 2 NACE Level 3 is equivalent to FROSIO Level 3 Therefore, if possible, we kindly request your prompt action to rectify this error in the painting specification for accurate alignment with industry standards. Your attention to this matter is crucial for ensuring compliance and maintaining quality assurance standards in coating industries. www.frosio.no

Washington State has something like 13 crane inspectors. Every lift has a "Lift Director". Every person that touches the straps is a "Qualified Rigger". The crane operator is "Certified". Every "Structural Lifter" that is attached to the hook is to be ASME B30.20 rated. And yet 14 years later, every time I find myself near a jobsite, I can see this behavior. I've raised the issue with the top of LnI only to find defensiveness and turning the table in asking me to report it and give my name which would no doubt be in the discovery. I have seen lifts fall apart. I know of hospitalizations and career ending injuries over this matter. It disappoints me that instead of, "You know what. You are right." and an education campaign starting, the Department becomes defensive and they circle the wagons. We are talking about people's lives here. I will state openly that I would like to see this change. I'm not going to be the source of a ticket. But until the state has the courage to enforce it's own rule (WAC 296-155-56200) people are at risk. The people in the field need to be educated. Will the state not do it? If not, then why have the rule?
