Good day..I am sharing this post because many people get pigeonheld into careers they are no longer aligned with. We are told during graduations we can be whoever we want. Why then is a career pivot seen as wrong or not making sense. As someone who has degrees in Social Work and Criminal Justice(my first career choice and the one I am attempting to pivot back to), it's frustrating to be seen only as a Social Worker(this happens the most) when my transferable skills are clearly listed. I am extremely grateful for every opportunity sent my way and people who value my experience. I am also a professional; confident in the versatility of my skills and the decision to pivot my career. There's nothing wrong with a career pivot. It makes that person seeking to pivot that more interesting and well rounded. Please don't box them in or assume they are not a good fit because the last few years they were dedicated to a different area of expertise💞🦋To all those looking for a new horizon; be encouraged and confident in who you are as a person and professional, and continue to strive for that opportunity. Someone will see You and Accept You! You Got This! 💪🙏🌟
It's okay to pivot! I wanted to be a nurse and failed to get into the nursing program of my choice at my desired college. So I looked into a tech school and talked to nurses about some other options. After many long conversations, I found that nursing may not be for me. So I made a pivot to get my degree in Health Services Administration. From there I worked for an incredible non-profit for 2 years. Then I went to seminary and got my Masters of Divinity. I found my passion and started down the path of chaplaincy. With a year of chaplaincy under my belt, specifically in skilled nursing facilities or hospice, I realized that I had a hard time separating my work from my day-to-day. It was very emotionally taxing. So I switched to tech after the pandemic hit. I was good at customer support and knew that I cared about helping people in any way I could. Each career shift has shaped my journey and led me to where I am today. Remember, pivoting is not just acceptable—it can open doors to new and fulfilling possibilities you never knew existed.

Senior Business Manager at TPP Recruitment - Specialising in Office & Specialist Support Temporary & Contract NFP Recruitment with a passion for the NFP sector and offering an ethical and honest recruitment service.
In recent months, I've spoken with many job seekers facing challenges in today's job market, within the non-profit sector. With redundancies and increased competition, standing out is crucial. One key tip I've shared is the power of personal connections. Sending a direct email or making a phone call to express your interest in a role can make a real difference. It shows initiative and enthusiasm, qualities that employers value. From my experience, applicants who take this proactive approach often stand out to hiring managers. In a competitive market, it's these personal touches that can set you apart and boost your chances of success. Stay proactive, stay focused, and remember that a simple connection could lead to your next opportunity. We have lots of resources available on our website to support with your job search - The Non-Profit, Charity and Public Sector Careers Hub | TPP Recruitment #JobMarket #NonProfitSector #CareerAdvice #JobSeekers #ProactiveApproach #StandOut #PersonalConnections #Networking #CareerTips #Opportunity

Board Positions Available: Recovery Resiliency 501(c)3 I'm excited to share the launch of Recovery Resiliency, a non-profit dedicated to supporting our incredible colleagues in the behavioral health field. After nearly a decade in this space, I've witnessed the immense challenges faced by those who dedicate their lives to helping others, and in many ways the way our industry fails to recognize or support discrete intervention for those suffering. Recovery Resiliency has been founded in order to provide a platform and resource for those in the space to receive essential support to overcome burnout, return to use, suicidal ideation, psychiatric illness, and more. Our Mission: Recovery Resiliency is here to serve the caregivers, providing a safety net that can complement existing benefits, or supplement when unavailable. We aim to help in offsetting additional costs and ensuring access to higher levels of care when appropriate. Our Values: Discreet, non-judgemental, and industry focused, we strive to create a supportive environment where our peers can seek help without stigma or fear. Our Vision: To empower behavioral health professionals to maintain wellness, ask for help when needed, and continue their vital work with renewed resilience and strength. In a world and space where we are all trying our best, to do our best, I'm hopeful this can serve as a platform to help our most helpful. Board Member Skill Requirement(s): Website and/or Social Media Fundraising Event Planning Outreach and Education Preferred: Active, Licensed Providers For interest, or to learn more, please send resumes or a brief synopsis of interest to chandlerakeel@gmail.com. 2 weeks ago, my organization announced that they had made the difficult decision to eliminate 100+ positions, in an effort to re-calibrate and balance our budget. The nonprofit industry nation-wide has struggled to rebound from the effects of Covid and the decline of charitable giving, and our org has unfortunately not been an outlier. This news has been hard to digest these past few weeks; many of the staff who were impacted I have known as trusted colleagues, peers, and inspirational leaders who have made my time with the Society exceptional. Change is so hard. I have seen similar major changes across other organizations, and while necessary for fiscal health or a stronger impact - we still feel all the emotions. In a continued effort to move the MS Society's mission and work forward, our recruitment team has recently posted several newly created positions across multiple functions, and we are especially encouraging our departing colleagues to consider those positions. Visit https://bit.ly/4cmRovP for a list of these new roles. To those who were impacted and will be searching for your next opportunity - whether that is here at the Society or elsewhere - please reach out when you are ready so that I may assist in your search in any way I can. I have been immensely blessed to serve alongside you and look forward to seeing your continued impact in the workforce. To my LinkedIn network, if you know of someone/organizations who may be hiring or are in need of phenomenal talent, or if there could be even a small benefit to connecting, please comment below! #NewBeginnings #OpenToWork #NonProfit #CareerJourney #MissionDriven #CareerTransition #StayConnected #MovingForward #ProfessionalNetwork #Leadership #CareerDevelopment

Are Bristol employers trauma informed employers? Jane Taylor talks to members of the One City Economy Board about the need for organisations in the city to become trauma informed employers to create more inclusive and thriving work. A trauma-informed organisation is one that operates with an understanding of trauma and its negative effects on the organization’s employees and the communities it serves and works to mitigate those effects. 1625 Independent People work with employers and care leavers to create employment opportunities that are trauma informed as are Babbasa who are working with young people from low income backgrounds to enter careers that can reach a median salary. Offer: Learn more about being a trauma informed organisation here https://lnkd.in/gC3W9VsM. Ask: If you want to develop a Trauma Informed approach and are looking to create entry level jobs, do reach out to city partners mentioned in this post.
