As the complexity of threats and emerging warfare capabilities increase, so do the number of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and the corresponding training regimes. How do instructors provide effective training that scales with this complexity? To address this challenge, Aptima, with partners at ASEC and University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies, have developed TOPMAST, the Training Operational Performance via Measure Automation and Scenario-generation Technology system. TOPMAST reuses tactical training data to generate scenario libraries at scale, improve integrated performance assessments, and adaptively recommend training material for individuals, crews, squadrons, and wings given current training requirements. Aptima welcomes the adoption or merging of your technology with one or more of our SBIR Topics. We are eligible for SBIR Enhancement funding, as well as TACFI and STRATFI awards, all of which are sole source. For more information, visit www.aptima.com/topmast-ii. U.S. Navy Photo by Lt. Brand partnership • Detect reliable and locate instandly earth & insulation fault on maritime systems
🚢 Reflecting on my recent experience during 3rd crew training for a leading offshore company, the importance of measuring leakage capacity in insulation monitoring couldn't be clearer. We encountered a situation where the measured leakage capacity was exceptionally high akin to naval vessels. 🎚️Navigating through hands-on training, we delved into the intricacies of the 230V 3AC system, essential for powering internal and external lighting circuits aboard the vessel. Disconnecting the standard IMD and switching to ISO685 revealed unexpected challenges, with measurements slower than anticipated due to the high leakage capacity which we discovered by measurement. 🐌 The realization dawned upon us that the insulation measurement time is intricately linked to the charging R*C chain, shedding light on the technical complexities involved. Moreover, the installed IMD's inability to measure accurately (out of leakage capacity specification) posed a hidden danger, emphasizing the need for vigilant monitoring. 💣This eye-opening experience serves as a reminder that safety should never be compromised. Despite appearances, an out-of-range IMD could potentially jeopardize crew safety, underscoring the importance of comprehensive monitoring systems. Let's ensure our maritime operations prioritize safety and efficiency at every turn. ⏭️In the next days I’ll post more experiences of this training with mobile ground fault locating equipment. 🛳️ #SafetyFirst #OffshoreOperations #InsulationMonitoring

Positonal accuracy in aircraft navigation refers to how close the reported position of an aircraft is to its actual position. It's a critical factor for safe and efficient navigation. Integrity, on the other hand, relates to the reliability of the navigation information. It's about ensuring that the system provides timely warnings if it detects any issues that could lead to incorrect navigation. However, these concepts are often confused and not clearly understood. Accurate positioning does not necessarily guarantee integrity, as errors can still occur without warning. Similarly, a system with good integrity may not always provide the highest level of accuracy. #Aviation #Navigation #Safety #ATSEP #ATC #GPS #GNSS #IFATSEA #TRAINING

In the middle of this Dstl gets a memorable mention of why we moved to trainable launchers. I recall leading the OA team and writing it up. This was not an overnight easy win, change is not always easy...but facts always bear out in time and reality. Its what Dstl do, and when we are at our very best, in the middle doing the science that makes the right change possible. https://lnkd.in/eg6X-PdG
