Guys – want to be public space superstars? Don't approach women. Etiquette deserves airtime in the #placemaking and #publicspace conversations. Here in the summertime more than any other time of the year, because of the sheer volume of people using public spaces, women deal with an unprecedented amount of unsolicited comments and conversations incited by men. The physiological response many women experience when approached is usually unpleasant. When your purpose for engaging is anything but benign, your intention becomes unclear, leading to a complicated emotional response that you can't even begin to imagine, ranging from annoyed at best to fearful at worst. I'm not saying no woman wants to be approached ever. I simply urge men to be more conscious of context and cues. For example, if a woman is running, rollerblading, or biking in a park or a hike & bike trail, she probably wants to do her thing and doesn't want to engage in exchanges beyond a friendly smile, wave, or nod. Don't talk at her, follow her, or ask for her number. Let's take a page from a 1859 British handbook called 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐻𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑆𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑦: 𝐴 𝐻𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑏𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝐸𝑡𝑖𝑞𝑢𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝐿𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛. In an era before women had rights, this book advised that “No man may stop to speak to a lady until she stops to speak to him. ... The lady, in short, has the right in all cases to be friendly or distant.” Can we practice this? Now is your time to shine, guys. Be more conscious. Help us feel safer in public spaces. Help put the "gentle" back in gentlemen. #urbanism #etiquette #feministcity #feministcities

Controversial debate: society needs better men, but men don't want to be better. And I believe, women today have the choice to **want** men rather than **need** men. Whereas, men and the economy **need** women and our free labor. Recently, I engaged in a thought-provoking debate in the comment section of Brendan Chaplin. A pivotal highlight of the discussion was Scott Galloway assertion: "If we want better men, we need to be better men." his resonated deeply with me and prompted me to share some hard truths about the evolving dynamics between men and women in American society. I posited that many men seem reluctant to embrace the need for self-improvement, and highlighted a crucial shift: women no longer need men for their survival or success. Instead, it's men and the capitalist system that rely on women's contributions, both in the workforce and at home. Women are now exercising their autonomy, choosing to prioritize themselves. This includes delaying or forgoing marriage and children, investing in real estate, traveling, and nurturing friendships. Essentially, women today have the privilege to want men, rather than needing men. This perspective sparked a lively back-and-forth in the comments, with many men arguing against my points. They suggested I was indoctrinated or misinformed, dismissing the factual evidence I presented. Research consistently shows that single, child-free women are among the happiest, wealthiest, and healthiest demographics, with significant professional advancements. Conversely, married men tend to live longer, accumulate more wealth, receive more promotions, and gain greater respect. So, I pose this question to the LinkedIn community: Do women need men as much as men need women in today's society? I welcome your insights and perspectives on this crucial and timely topic. A primary source that supports my argument. https://lnkd.in/dHPtmsz2 #debate #work #family #women #men #expatlife #travel

Money gives you stress? I’ll give you a science-backed action plan to become emotionally and financially secure, without you having to obsess over your bank balance.
– 9-to-5 people think business guy is happy. – Business guy thinks the one born rich is happy. – The one born into rich thinks the digital nomad is happy. – The digital nomad thinks 9-to-5 guy with a stable job is happy. – Housewives think working women are happy. – Working women think housewives with peace of mind are happy. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. We all fall into the comparison trap. I’ve spent 17 years in a competitive industry. There were times I questioned my choices looking at others. After years of personal growth, I’ve learned how to protect myself. Here are 3 things that help me stay grounded – 1. When you find yourself comparing, compliment that person instead. 2. List 5 things you're good at. Look back at it whenever you feel down. 3. Be aware that there’s always someone begging for the kind of life you have. As they say… “The fastest way to kill something special is to compare it to something else. ”

It's International Women's Day, so that means I gotta give you the marketing insights you love inspired by women. To celebrate, I'm sharing a reel we made for Crescent Centre, a charming apartment community in downtown Louisville. I'll break it all down for you below: For context, Marketing gives teams weekly content prompts of things we need. Sometimes, we get awesome stuff. Sometimes, the content doesn't land. That's life. But this reel is a new fave for me for a few reasons: ✅ The content in the intro was created from one of those miss-the-mark instances. Just because the content didn't make sense for its intended purpose doesn't mean we can't use it later. ✅ The team collected videos from residents and staff about the holiday. This video allowed us to stitch them together into one message that still feels fun and fresh, not boring. ✅ The intro text ties in why Crescent Centre is posting the reel. What does International Women's Day have to do with my property? Your team is female-led, the industry is heavily female, and once we're done caring for you, our residents, we go home and care for our families day in and day out. All that work...what, like it's hard? ✅ It combines Elle Woods and Beyonce. I mean, duh. Hope you spend today–and every single day–celebrating the women in your life. Who run the world? #yourmultifamilymarketer #internationalwomensday #multifamilymarketing #naasmacs #livetrilogy
