On June 8th, we celebrated World Oceans Day! 🌍🌊 We care about our environment because it sustains life for generations to come. Our oceans, in particular, are precious ecosystems that need our care. By collecting and upcycling plastic, we can significantly contribute to preserving our oceans. We are proud to partner with #tide as a resin distributor and exclusive masterbatch partner to give ocean plastic a new life. Together, we embark on a journey to clean our beaches and waters, preventing more plastic from entering the oceans. A lifecycle assessment of #tide ocean material® shows that ocean-bound RPET reduces CO2 emissions by 80% compared to virgin feedstock. Let's celebrate, connect, and protect the oceans every day. Earth's Overshoot Day falls Earlier than last Year 😢 Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity's demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what our planet can regenerate in that year. The earlier the date, the greater our ecological overshoot. Let's use this as a wake-up call to redouble our efforts in sustainability and conservation. Did you know that ending single-use plastics can directly move the date of Earth Overshoot Day by lowering the carbon emissions and lessen pollution associated with plastics?

The very first #EarthDay, April 22, 1970, was meant to increase awareness of environmental problems. This year marks the 54th Earth Day, a day which has become a popular time for many communities to gather together to clean up litter, plant trees, or simply reflect on the beauty of nature. Today’s Earth Day theme: 'Planet vs. Plastics', calls on government leaders, businesses, and everyday people to reduce plastic production by 60% by 2040. It is also calling for the full elimination of single use plastics by the end of this decade. How will you celebrate Earth Day? #PlanetVsPlastics #EndPlastics #EarthDay

The more solutions we create, the more problems we encounter; this is a true saying when it comes to technological advancement. Today's Earth Day theme, 'Planet vs Plastics,' reminds us of the rapidly developing problem in our ecosystem. Plastic waste has overrun our waters and drainage systems, polluting and harming wildlife and aquatic animals. But change can start with you. How do you dispose of your plastic waste? Do you recycle it? #plasticvsplanet

Have you heard about what's being called the "largest plastic cleanup in history"? The Ocean Cleanup, a global organization, operates ships on the Pacific Ocean that collect #plasticwaste from the Great Pacific “Garbage Patch (GPGP)," a collection system for marine debris litter that ends up in the North Pacific Ocean, seas, and other large bodies of water. Read our new blog about how Mid America Paper Recycling's Brian Gaughan assists The Ocean Cleanup in their cause, working to engage more businesses to assist in this very critical work: https://bit.ly/3Xj7tyE www.midamericapaper.com #closingtheloop #recyclingmatters #greatpacificgarbagepatch #b2brecyclingservicesChicago #circularmaterials #growingtheworthofyourwaste #plasticscleanup
